The solution I decided to go with is AirLink Raven XE via ethernet port. It's industrial grade, so far looks like a good choice.

Right, the high weight is as expected for staking your first block. What error message came along with 'Block vehemently rejected'? There should have been something else, probably above it.

The wallet needs to be unlocked, or at the very least unlocked for staking, in order to stake any block. Unlocking your wallet for 'staking only' is done with the checkbox on the…

You will need to flash your SD card with Ubuntu for the launchpad to work I think, I never used it myself. Re the error, Im not sure whats causing you to get a permission…

You could try putting sudo in front but that does seem odd. This guide is a bit old now, if you are looking for an easier method I believe there is a PPA for Ubuntu that has ARM support
