Psychological Projection // Part 1
Psychological Projection is a coping mechanism that is used subconsciously to deal with undesirable or difficult emotions and issues.
Projection is a result of feelings that we deny within ourselves and/or issues that are buried deep within the subconscious or unconscious.
You can think of these issues and emotions as entities that are trying to escape because they are locked away, but when they break free they project themselves on to other people.
So we end up seeing those issues in other people instead of ourselves.
This emotional displacement causes us to perceive our own flaws in others which makes it seem as though others are the cause of our problems.
This can result in feeling like a victim or perhaps feeling self-righteous when we really aren’t.
It really just harms us in the long term because we are giving away our control by making ourselves a victim instead of recognizing and working through our own issues and emotions.
When we perceive our own issues in others by externalizing or projecting them we will likely experience negative emotions such as anxiety, resentment, disappointment, and anger because we are blaming others for our issues instead of emotionally integrating them and accepting them as our own.
@isaria
The words "integration" and "acceptance" sound so nice and soothing, and yet, to reach that from a place of ignorance and anger is a warrior's journey into the psyche.
Maybe you will write about that journey.
Indeed, I will try my best to write about that.
nice post.
I like your wors :

it's useful for me.
Thanks for sharing
Thank you, I'm glad to hear it is useful to you!
I've been a 'victim' of this mechanism for a large part of my life. I've actually witnessed this myself and have realized I've been doing it all wrong for so many years. However, someone came into my life a few years back and changed a lot of things for me. I've begun to think differently. I started taking responsibility of what I do. I have started owning my mistakes and the emotions I have. I have stopped blaming others. The drill is difficult but it helps you to work on yourself. Thank you for giving words to what I've been feeling. Waiting for the second part and looking forward to alternative remedies too.
Thank you so much for your input. I'm happy to hear that you've had such realizations about yourself and that you worked to change!

I like that you are taking this on. Have you been through analysis? Jung changed my life many years ago. I think it's safe to say his theories changed the world of psychology. Complexes are tricky business and these auxiliary functions, such as projections (beit, shadow, countersexual projections) do take one on a journey that can lead to a fuller sense of self through the process of individuation. The world is but an illusion in some ways when it comes to depth psychology, esoterically speaking. We are only ever aware of a complex through our interactions with others, or the "other", and such functions as projections are a beacon in the dark. I embrace projections as a way to steer through the dark wood of interactions. Fascinating stuff that I can pontificate on for hours (and do in my non-online life).
It's nice to see some depth psychology round here, I will be looking for you future post.
