2023-03-09 - Thursday - 01:19 AM - Star Trek Picard 304: No Win Scenario

I love the intro. I love the credit music at the end for each episode. There were some odd editing decisions during the last ten or so minutes of the roughly 58 minutes long episode. Oh the credits include the original score for Star Trek: The Next Generation. I did not know that. This episode starts with how they only have hours. Riker tells Picard he was right about how they should have fought. Nine was going after the shape shifter who later pretended to be the black girl. Nine shot him as he did not call her Nine. Picard is in the holodeck with Will who was also the former husband of Crusher. He would have named him that too. He realized he needed to spend time with his son more than his son needed Picard. There is a flashback to 5 years earlier when people asked Picard questions including the aliens from season 7 who spoke in metaphor. His son was there that day and asked if Picard had family outside of Star Fleet. No. That is when Will vanished. Looking back he realized that as he made contact with Will at the end. I enjoyed the flashbacks and all the characters. The bad guy lady talked to a monster thing by cutting off her hand over a thing. It told her to engage Will and then it disappeared. Her hand came back. Picard and the crew took a ride off the waves of the nebula and as they did they saw the birth of the space squids or octopuses or whatever they are. They worked together which was the TED Talk he gave the group five years ago. It was cool to see Picard pilot the ship as he has experience flying blind. Good to see Riker talk to his wife to say sorry and how he was going to make things right. The coolest thing was to see Picard do his log at the end of this episode. I do not know if he did it in the movies but he did do it in TNG. Each episode is getting better. Only problem I had was possibly bad editing at the end. Overall an engaging story,

Writing 101, it is easier to mess with the story off screen, kill off characters, have people break up, destroy Luke Skywalker off screen, it is lazy writing. But as we learn in writing classes, show don't tell. But Disney was trying to simply tries to tell you everything.

I've included my watch log near the bottom of this post listing some of the videos I've viewed. At the very bottom are some of my favorite links worth sharing. Dear diary journal blog, I got up at 11:30 AM or so. Forget dreams. Swept and vacuumed kitchen floor followed by vacuuming around the main couch and to the front door and to the one and only bathroom we have because Larry may have stept on dirt or something today, the Brady Bunch with one bathroom, the princess with the pea at the bottom of matresses. Wait how do you spell matris? For the bed? Not sure. Spell check is not working on Pluma text editor on on Ubuntu here. Breakfast, 12:04 PM. Lunch, 12:50 PM. Dishes. Larry took mom out to get 2 small milk containers and to get a new phone for mom. She had the red phone which may have been LG. They came back after two hours or so at around 03:30 PM. A person Crystal's age, like 33 years old or younger, he might have said they don't make LG phones any more. I do not think that is true. It is said the data from the old phone is being migrated to the new phone, Larry thinks it takes a day but I disagree. He thinks you have to close web browsers every time to limit Internet use. That is not how it works. True opened web browser windows, tabs, plus apps and other things, may use some Internet be it upload, download, bandwidth, etc. Whatever the different parts might be. But my theory is it is minimal compared to actually playing a video game online, watching videos, downloading, uploading, etc. Like some things can use up more Internet and other things less so. Comcast charged us for going over. We had to pay $70. I do not know why now and not before. I said that like yesterday too. Dexter Dark Passenger. Like what are the exact numbers. No idea. Like it might be around 1 TB which is not a lot really. But I do not know for what and how it is all counted. I do not know if it includes cable watching. Now mom is on Larry's Verizon plan I guess. So perhaps she gets unlimited Internet on her new phone now. There is no such thing as unlimited. But they can lie about it. Mom thinks maybe she cannot connect Verizon phones to the computer. Larry tried explaining why and he said a bunch of things that are not true. He believes it as he knows very little about computers. He said something about because Comcast cable is running through the cables or whatever and into the computer tower, then that means like Verizon phones cannot connect to something. He did not say what he was talking about it be to connect a phone directly to a computer tower via USB or what. But I would say all of that is not true. Like connecting a phone via USB to a computer has nothing to do with the Internet or lack thereof. That is insane. More lunch, 03:41 PM. I hear the hey hey to mom from Larry. It took a few minutes before she finally heard him on the couch from her room with the door closed and her ear muffs on, she was sleeping. This happens sometimes. Not every day. It sounds kind of bad. I do not know if he is joking or not. Dinner, 05:56 PM. Food log: Breakfast: coffee, apple, 12:04 PM. Lunch: salad, 12:50 PM. More salad, 03:41 PM.
