A value to option B might be the value of TBC. But debate if or when TBC is needed. But also debate TBC internally vs TBC externally via a pass-through vs any and all options. You mentioned one of the values is in minimizing or in stripping out tape skewing and tearing, that might be another debate as well. Also, it might be a debate of how valuable TBC and other other things might be if a VHS tape is not super bad or what if a VHS tape is perfect with no problems. 03:16 PM: Study this frame from MKV video OBS made from the VHS from RCA through that USB dongle into my ASUS laptop, I played the video via VLC, it is displayed at 4:3 aspect ratio. The original video was filmed to VHS to a camcorder in 2001. Evaluate how much cropping I might need. It looks like to me I do not need any cropping. Also try to study the 480i quality of this frame. This is actually a copy of a copy which is why it is not perfect. But OBS copied exactly what the VCR read without losing a lot via the RCA or USB. 07:26 PM: I sometimes would copy my VHS home videos to other VHS tapes in longer playing modes like EP, LP, etc. The original VHS would sometimes be around 2 hours. It would sometimes be copied to longer tapes at around 2-10 hours each. Some around 4 hours. Some around 6 hours. Some possibly over 8 hours long. I want to know the science of how much data might be lost or the kind of changes as a tape is stretched from 2-10 hours. As I copy my home videos, one of the limitations might include the condition of extended VHS tapes. Not all the tapes were extended. But I want to try to understand how bad or how good longer tapes might be regarding the quality of the frames, color depth, contrast, audio, the pixels, etc. I know analog video does not have pixels but might have lines or what have you. I want you to lay out the scientific numbers for the best case and worse case scenario for longer tapes. I want you to talk about my longer tapes. Some of the master copies are 2-10 hours long. In other words, I may not always have the original VHS my home videos were recorded to or some tapes were recorded over. I want you to talk about best case and worse case scenarios as it relates NOT to shorter 2 hour long video but instead longer videos. For example, some of the tapes might be around six hours long. I am not asking if a 2 hour long video is better than a 4 hour long video. You should be smarter to realize I already knew that. I want you to outline the math, the science, percentages, all of the facts as it relates to how good and how bad a six hour long video might be as it relates to the quality of the video and what have you. Update your response with two things in mind. There are two main steps, OBS and Ffmpeg. The first question would be how much quality would OBS need to copy best case scenario of a 10 hour long VHS tape. I do not care if OBS makes a 1 GB file or a 300 GB file. I just want to try to copy whatever might be there. The second question would be relating to software like ffmpeg which is shrinking the files that OBS made for me. I do not care how big of a file OBS makes as long as something like Ffmpeg can compress it to a perfect Goldilock size that is not too big or too little to be totally as efficient and as effective as possible for archive master copies to be as is representations of the VHS to appear as close to the original VHS as possible without going too high or too low. As I already told you, our videos were recorded via roughly four to six camcorders with at least two being the smaller VHS-C camcorders and at least two were the full version large VHS camcorders, these camcorders filmed our home videos between the years of 1996 to 2003. But to be clear, I might not know which exact years these camcorders were made. The tapes were also copied via the help of different VCR machines and what have you as well. The camcorders and VCRs and other machines were made by various companies. Debate post production options, look at audio options like 128 and 192 and 320 and all other options as it relates to ffmpeg and beyond. The debate, the question, would be if post production audio work might be easier or better or different or what between say 128 and 192 and other settings. The debate might be regarding what might be easier or harder when trying to George Lucas Special Edition improve or alter master copies, look at 128, 192, etc. Look at the pros, cons, differences, similarities, advantages, disadvantages, as it relates to 128, 192, etc, in determining which has higher probabilities of being in the goldilock zone for being the best master that can best be played with later on in post production.

Woke up at 11:30 AM feeling cranky, cleaned rabbit cage which means new water, new cardboard, new hay, spraying bed in the front yard as usual, sunny, mom said she was still under the weather. Breakfast: 11:58 AM. Lunch: 01:04 PM. Rabbit Fence: Aaron was over adding extra fence posting, I found him wiring. Picked tomatoes, blackberries. Vacuum in mom's room. VCR MKV Project: been doing the VCR to MKV 2026 collection, been copying the Attic-44 VHS collection tapes, did around five, started around like Sunday. Been doing it all day Monday too. Dishes. Sterling Point season 1 finale, a good show. Dishes. Mom taught piano. Dinner: 10:00 PM. VCR continued. DVD work. Photo album work. A family photos shelf fell off the wall in mom's room, I stuck in two holes to remount it but was not straight but worked and kind of funny to be slanted. Food log: Breakfast: coffee, orange, 11:58 AM. Lunch: noodle pasta on beans etc on potatoes soup was good, 01:04 PM. More food probably after that but I forget. Dinner: bread with jam was fun, 10:00 PM. Green tea.
