As hardworking individuals all around the world scramble to figure out how they will pay their taxes this year,
due to new regulations, basically worldwide, on cryptocurrencies, a few of us are left scratching our heads.
Wasn’t this shit CREATED TO AVOID this type of violent bullshit red tape/regulation!?
A huge part of the reason that cryptocurrencies in general have skyrocketed in value over the last few years is that they are—in stark contrast to the “fiat” money and systems—actually economically sound!

What’s mine is mine and yours is yours. “Middlemen” be damned.
People who think other people should not be allowed to handle and manage their own money and resources, and should be taxed (read: “made to pay for things under threat of violence”), are not human beings to be trusted, in my opinion.
Would you trust a friend who forced you at gunpoint to support his kid’s fundraiser?
To build a new library for him?
To pay for his wife’s abortion?
Fuck that. No, you wouldn’t.
TAXES ARE NO DIFFERENT. JUST LESS DIRECT.
That friend is a milksop of a man now and is not comfortable directly mugging you, but is totally fine with men called “police” or “IRS agents” forcefully violating you to steal the money and pay for what he wants. What a fucking useless bitch. Pardon my “French,” but this gets me fired up.

When to say “no.”
Before talking about when it is time for you as an individual to say “no” to immoral mandates and dictates from the state, I’d like to start by sharing a few responses I left on other people’s posts discussing the topic:

Crypto, in a very real sense, was created to stop violence, and to disempower the state and its corrupt financial institutions:
...we can win a major battle in the arms race and gain a new territory of freedom for several years.
Governments are good at cutting off the heads of a centrally controlled networks like Napster, but pure P2P networks like Gnutella and Tor seem to be holding their own.
~Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin P2P e-cash paper
The root problem with conventional currency is all the trust that's required to make it work. The central bank must be trusted not to debase the currency, but the history of fiat currencies is full of breaches of that trust. Banks must be trusted to hold our money and transfer it electronically, but they lend it out in waves of credit bubbles with barely a fraction in reserve. We have to trust them with our privacy, trust them not to let identity thieves drain our accounts.
~Satoshi Nakamoto, “Bitcoin open source implementation of P2P currency”
The following quote is from the Crypto Anarchist Manifesto written in 1988:
”The State will of course try to slow or halt the spread of this technology, citing national security concerns, use of the technology by drug dealers and tax evaders, and fears of societal disintegration. Many of these concerns will be valid; crypto anarchy will allow national secrets to be trade freely and will allow illicit and stolen materials to be traded. An anonymous computerized market will even make possible abhorrent markets for assassinations and extortion. Various criminal and foreign elements will be active users of CryptoNet. But this will not halt the spread of crypto anarchy.
Just as the technology of printing altered and reduced the power of medieval guilds and the social power structure, so too will cryptologic methods fundamentally alter the nature of corporations and of government interference in economic transactions. Combined with emerging information markets, crypto anarchy will create a liquid market for any and all material which can be put into words and pictures. And just as a seemingly minor invention like barbed wire made possible the fencing-off of vast ranches and farms, thus altering forever the concepts of land and property rights in the frontier West, so too will the seemingly minor discovery out of an arcane branch of mathematics come to be the wire clippers which dismantle the barbed wire around intellectual property.
Arise, you have nothing to lose but your barbed wire fences!”

So when will you say “no,” to your money being stolen, and the fruits of your hours and hours of endless hard work being frittered away by an “elite” class of child rapists, brutalizers, murderers, and thieves?
The line in the sand is different for everyone. It’s not for me to draw it for anyone but myself. One must be smart. Sometimes keeping the wolves away requires throwing them some meat, here and there, much in the same way you give a mugger your cash to avoid being shot.
Sometimes there are other ways. Those of you with extensive crypto knowledge know this. Clandestine methods exist.
The fact remains. We are in the right. The Nazis were also “legal” in their day. The Jews being persecuted “criminal.”
When, if ever, will you say “NO.” ?
(That was all a joke, now go pay your taxes.)

They'll never get a penny out of me mate. NEVER!
I have nearly all my wealth in property I own, gold, silver and crypto.
Yes they steal from my wages on a monthly basis before I even get them but as soon as I quit the job paradigm in the next 2years that's me finished getting 'farmed' by these scumbags.
So many people I know when I'm ranting at parties etc say stupid shit like....
"You have to pay taxes, they're for everyone's benefit" or...
"Without taxes there'd be no money to fund the government."
Like that would be a bad thing you dumbed down morons! Arrggh..
Geez mate, they've got the sheeple so well trained quite often they rat each other out for not paying taxes, it's pathetic!
It's time to start deprogramming them Graham.
Amen, brother.

On cryptos - pay taxes? - no never - how the hell would they know so long as you stick to exchanging between cryptos and don't use banks?
I'm not worried about this but I wouldn't leave a trail or use zionist controlled cryptos like Bitcoin or Ripple, even here in New Zealand where there are no capital gains taxes.

Great post! I'm going use to this:
to try persuade friends into thinking about decentralized currency.Cheers, @unicornvomit.
This is crucial. Now that crypto has entered the mainstream awareness and all of our statist friends are starting to ask us how to invest... we should take that as the golden opportunity it is to sow the seeds of anarchy in their minds. Crypto is not only the tool that can disrupt the state and central banks. It's also the tool that can help regular people understand voluntaryism and see the need for that disruption. Once these folks have something big and exciting that they watched grow, and the government tries to take it away, I bet they'll be much more open and interested in withdrawing consent.
I'm deleting my comments.
Being down voted by Content censoring whales sucks
and hurts minnows who only earn 0.01 per post/comment anyhow
This whale BS will kill STEEM imho
Right!
We should ask: If cigarette taxes exist to stop people from smoking, what is the income tax supposed to do?
@kafkanarchy84 Tax a tool to enable the absurd lifestyles of people in power. Seeing how far cryptos have gone in terms of reward to its adopters, government will use the excuse of cleaning up the bad elements in the crypto-verse so they can join in the party and disrupt everything . Private coins might turn out to be a great option in the long run.
Hopefully the safe havens appear soon. The exchanges are a real weak spot in the anonymity problem. Maybe soon they will be made better too.
Very powerful post- I’m worried about the way crypto will be affected by the federal governments all around the globe over the next couple years. I feel like things are gonna change and soon. I live in America and have the feeling that a storm is brewing.
Really informative, tactful post- thanks!
Even with just an announcement of possible regulation, they could damage the crypto markets.. Makes me sick. I wish they'd just leave me alone lol.
True that...
There is so much good here in the blockchain community.- would hate to see it all fall apart
who is going to pay benefits and pensions without tax, to pay the police, school and medicine?
Who will pick the cotton with no slaves?
I am for the state social protection
State social protection?
State health care is inefficient, sold out to big pharma and more likely to make you ill than heal you.
State police are ineffective and more likely to kill your dog (or you) than protect you.
State economics are designed to consistently debase the national currency and render your salary worthless.
Their is no state social protection.
They protect themselves pretty well, and that's about it.
I am a State social protector))) And Taxpayers pay me)))
It really matters not how these things would be paid for at this point. What matters is that the current method is murderous, and unethical.
Again your question is akin to asking, “If we get rid of slavery, who will pick the cotton?”
It doesn’t matter. Slavery is wrong.

we live under capitalism and we have the capital.
Who will pick the cotton???
Who will pay a teacher? )))
They can be paid by customers like any other private industry. Do you worry about who will pay your preacher, doctor, or radio broadcasters?
The market's got this.
27 years ago in Russia "privatizers" came to power . Almost all public property became private. Millions of people do not "fit the market" (i.e. lost their homes and money and died of starvation and disease). I like socialism more than capitalism
You wouldn’t pay teachers at schools you like to educate your children unless forced to? Why not?
Russian state schools are free. Taxpayers pay teachers
You can pay taxes if you like. But don't expect to get what you pay for.
Privatize everything, I say.
My parents get state pensions. I receive a salary without delay
Money doesn't have friends
A very eloquent and intuitive post that forces me to ask myself a series of questions:
Do I want to live in the FIAT system but profit from the freedom provided by new technologies?
I want to believe that I'm free just because I use a different type of currency (exactly how the altcoins want to get rid of the strength of Bitcoin)?
If we are the new investors (although I'm still a poor person), we should weigh how much my confidence in BTC is worth instead of $. Why do we continue to depend on national restrictions?
No matter how much BTC I have in my wallet, I must pay the beer in $, then: am I a free investor or just another illusory result of a conditioned economic reality?
If you see how much money this post has generated, you realize that the dollar symbol continues to precede your earnings; while that exists, we cannot say NO to the system, at least not in capital letters.
I'm in Venezuela. The mistrust that people have in "Petro" (the new Venezuelan cryptocurrency) is because, besides the corruption of the government, here people only think in dollars; for them that is the only strong currency in the world.
So I ask you one last question: how do we advise these people to also learn to say NO to the current financial system?
And like this, in many countries people think the same.
The current financial system in Venezuela is a result of state authorities implementing unsound “economic policy,” right?
If everyone had said “NO.” The current situation would not exist. Is that a fair assessment?
I understand this is much easier said than done, which is why I say everyone must draw their own line. The state, all states, are essentially nothing more than a giant gun, aimed at all of our heads, attempting (very successfully) to force compliance.
Even if we aren't able to say No, we can still say Goodbye! haha
Hi @endplunder!
In fact, saying goodbye is worse.
Many Venezuelans have emigrated because of the economic and social crisis, that has resulted in:
Detriment of educational quality because the best professionals have gone to provide their services in other countries.
Deterioration of public institutions because there are no longer specialized people who attend to the "bureaucratic needs" of citizens.
Inability to develop because we even import labor from China and Russia, which leads to high levels of unemployment.
And this is just to say some things.
I don't know where you live, but ultimately the situation in Venezuela is terrible. And yes, I know that there are many countries at war that are even worse, but here is the detail: we are supposedly not at war, so why do we suffer so many calamities?
We can not say NO, but it's worse if we say "Goodbye".
There has been suffering and that is terrible, but they wouldn't be leaving if they had a better option. Not leaving might cost them more than economic opportunities.
Hi @kafkanarchy84!
Actually, the current financial system in Venezuela is the result of state authorities thinking only of how to fill their pockets, and forget that ordinary men also need to live.
That is why there are so many restrictions related to free trade and exchange houses. Yes, surely if we had said "you're not going to screw our lives", the current economy had another nuance, but: how do I express my discontent if the official weapons of the state point to my head?
And if there is no significant change, the fiduciary money will be the sole guarantor of the economic stability of the citizens (even if it is very unstable).
That is why saying NO is so difficult.
This is one area where I'm worried about Steemit: each and every Steemian's wallet is available for anyone and everyone to consult: what's to stop the tax office going through it with a fine tooth-comb and charging tax on all those "transactions?"
A very effusive message and loaded with very strong words, a lot of energy to spend on this issue, if you lived in my country you would already be crazy, the government is a disaster with its control over others, every time it pokes its nose it always ruins all.
I see you've been paying attention.
You've come to the right place :)
You have a lot of awesome posts, but this is by far one of your best ones man. I needed this one today! Thanks.
There should not be tax on LABOUR, there should be tax on RESOURCE USE and POLLUTION instead!! Why is there tax on what is good, what we DO want? Taxes belong on the things that are NOT helping anything!! WE GOTTA GREEN THE ECONOMY! We truly need change in all levels of society...
Right!
We should ask: If cigarette taxes exist to stop people from smoking, what is the income tax supposed to do?
I will be honest with you and say that I have no idea :P
Good post @kafkanarchy84
Thanks for your post! I commend your efforts in choosing this topic and for your useful advice on how to go about solving the tax payment issues. I upvote you.
Not, ‘Not at this time’, not ‘I don’t think so’, not ‘I’m not sure’, not ‘Maybe next time’. The word NO is a powerful thing. Use it if you are absolutely, unequivocally sure that there is no other answer. And don't apologise for saying it. If need be, practise saying the word until it loses its power over you. @kafkanarchy84
Thanks for sharing such a lovely post :D @kafkanarchy84
I'm ready to move to the first libertarian state that forms. I'm not glad to see the regulations, but at least it's the next step that's needed to legitimize crypto.
It will be interesting to see who wins out in the next 10 years. Decentralization or the greed for money and companies privatizing crypto. With the recent explosion of Ripple I'm afraid it's the second one.
Crypto was already legitimate. That's my point. I do understand the angle that "mainstreaming" crypto will help with adoption, but if mainstreaming includes neutering it, I'm not down for that.
Your reply has actually gotten me thinking.
With corporate money crypto could be jump-started years ahead by allowing new start-ups to attract more talent to the space, but has the strings of corporations and big government.
WIthout this money it may slow progress, but money should continually flow in as new advancements are made.
I wonder as more strings are attached if crypto will be able to break free and if we should quit cheering "good news" of wall street and other entanglements entering the space.
You are so Right!
exactly you have the point.
The post is very unusual. You are great at reviewing the words by turning the flow of thoughts from lethargy into excitement. Thank you very much for a very informative post. Good luck always for you and for us all @kafkanarchy84.
Well, I don't work so I pay no income tax, anything I do make on a day to day basis I don't report, I don't think I would reach the threshold anyway, as for any crypto earnings I don't think I am about to report them. In fact the only tax I pay is unavoidable for me, sales tax, I could avoid it only if I went to live in a secluded area and became self sustainable, but I don't think I could stand the loneliness.
We just have to keep hope up and believe everything would be fine. We need to be strong
I think govenmental instruments already among us. They should have bought crypto's in last few months and i bet that's what make market more visible in that episode. While newbies lost their money, they become more and more stronger to take the ropes of the market. Sorry but i think crypto market already lost the battle, it's just a matter of time the realise that.
thanks for this post. Just moved to South Africa and one of the leading grocery stores looks like it will be accepting bitcoin in the near future. I'm just wondering if governments will even be able to keep up with the speed of development in this sphere and I also wonder who is actually driving this crackdown in crypto...banks and those who hold the power now...federal reserves etc? Just a thought
very interesting post...
thanks for sharing it...
upvoted and followed...!!
Thanks for you advice. It's a great post on taxes. @kafkanarchy84
Well, it’s not “advice.” Just observations. Thanks for commenting.
