What a difference a week makes

in OCD4 years ago

Does it feel like ages ages already? Staring over the ocean, sipping on margheritas in the sun under a palmtree. Exploring some weird caves where when you look up into the sky you know what heaven will be looking like.

Having nothing on the schedule except for if you wat to go kitesurfing, where you want to grab a bite of food, and what time you might want to exit your beach towards going home.

Life can be damn simple if you know what I mean.

Or you can be working your nightshifts, hiding from the rain and fog, concluding that it really is already almost dark at 1630 and have a nice water leakage in the house. You feel the vibe is different right?

But what the good thing about all of this is. You need moments where it is all not that appealing to you, to appreciate the moments that you do really like. No upside without downside. No bulls without bears. No sellers without buyers. No Friday afternoon drink without a hard week of work.

It is just nice to have a certain shift in things, to see multiple sides and experience multiple angles. I realize this is a privilege which not everyone has the option to. The option to willingly get to know the other sides of things and see if you like them or not.

No enjoying the sun and the summer temperatures without knowing how freezing cold it can be and how soaked you can walk inside a door again.

The contrast is gigantic and it is not a bad thing. What I do hope from all of this pandemic thing is that people realize how important our freedom and health is. The thin line of this all is one that can easily take another turn which is surely not always the best one. Freedom apparently can be taken in just like that. You can get sick just like that.

When all of this is over, will you still be the same person who takes everything for granted or are we the people who realize that the moments which are good that we should take them, enjoy them and be happy with it.

Stuff can change so easily and we should not be the ones to forget that. A job can be gone, health can change, relationships can fade. How is life on the other side when you look up out of your cave to the blue skies.

I'm not taking it all for granted. Are you?
