Hello friends,
I hope you all are well, and I trust you're in good spirits. Today, I am sharing a very delicious recipe with you, which is full of flavor and is known as "Chana Dal" (Split Chickpea). For this, I will need the following ingredients:

Ingredients:
- 1 cup chana dal (split chickpeas)
- 3 cups water
- 2 small onions, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, chopped (adjust according to taste)
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
Spices:
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust according to taste)
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
- 2 tablespoons oil or ghee
Method:
Wash the chana dal thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear. Soak it in water for approximately 30 minutes.

After rinsing the soaked dal, add it to a pressure cooker along with 3 cups of water, turmeric powder, and a little salt. Pressure cook for about 4-5 whistles or until the dal is soft and well-cooked.

- Heat oil or ghee in a separate pan. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add finely chopped onions and sauté them until they turn golden brown.

Incorporate ginger-garlic paste and chopped green chilies. Sauté for about a minute until the raw smell disappears.

Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and the oil starts to separate.
Add red chili powder, garam masala, and a pinch of asafoetida. Mix well.
Introduce the cooked chana dal into the pan and combine everything. Adjust salt and spices to your taste.

Allow the dal to simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. If it's too thick, you can add a little warm water.

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and enjoy the flavorful chana dal with rice or papdi.
