EUC VLOG #004 Can you actually make a living as a creator on Hive?

Good morning, @hiveio and @threespeak! I went out for an EUC ride last night. Earlier in the day, I met up with @dartstrife in St. Paul and he showed me a bike path that ran all the way back to uptown Minneapolis. We played some Magic: The Gathering, which was great, and then I rode home. My unicycle was almost completely drained of it’s battery, so I let it charge for a few hours while I did some photo editing, then at sunset, I found myself wanting to get out for another ride. I got the EUC, my LAV mic and 360º camera and went out for this VLOG.

I’ve been thinking about how likely it is for Hive users to actually make a living from what they publish here on the platform. At a token price of around $0.25, it’s not realistic on the surface, but it’s a complex idea that goes deeper than the rewards you make in a given week. Token prices can and do soar, bull markets can and do happen, and there are developments we’re yet to even understand, like NFT’s on the Hive blockchain. Tokenization of digital art and assets. This video are some of my musings on the subject. Enjoy.

Can you actually make a living as a creator on Hive?

I have to, @kommienezuspadt. It’s not a choice… I’m grateful Hive exists.

Emin değilim. Ama olması güzel bir şey.

We need to be thinking beyond the ecosystem of HIVE --

"Can I be making a living as a Creative -- while utilizing HIVE as a central component of that larger business structure?"

Is a more realistic question, and offers solutions now - not just when the bull market happens, and profit potential is spiked.

If you've got to hold, until the bull market, then you need income now -- so you need to be leveraging ETH / USD Online Creative Platforms - or doing client work which coincides with your creative business.

You know this.

It's like your photography work, and your Lonely Pandemic Portraits Book.

Project-based work that includes HIVE as a component, rather than "Can I make a living off of HIVE?"

Totally agree, @rootdraws. In the video, I think I mentioned an Afghan quilt of passive income revenue stream, and Hive is a big part of that. The bear market definitely broke me. Once upon a time, I had 20K on the old blockchain and a thousands of EOS. From about 2018, I had no choice but to repeatedly go to my coffers to survive. No one could have imagined the bear market would have lasted so long, but alas, it was the case. Ultimately, though...my crypto holdings were a big part of how I survived during a time that was so difficult, I don't know how I would have made it through otherwise. Hive was a major lifeline for me.

Looks like you've really gotten the hang of that uniciyle! I was looking at one of those that's a bit different layout. They look fun.

Surprisingly, I've not found many Venezolanos. I used to post bilingual, but my English-language posts did better.

As for posts, I dont' think I've ever made more than like $30 for a post... $400 would be impressive!

It was great ride.

Why are there so many cars parked in the street? Don't they have drive ways?
You are doing a great job on that unicycle. I won't be able to do that and speak.
I was able to make a living in 2017 but then after that I could not.
Now, in lockdown, what I am earning now helps to buy bread and milk which I am very grateful for as I have no other income during lockdown.
You practised that was preached to me:
Whatever you do, don't stop. But I did...listening to you now convinced me to not stop again.
Thank you for sharing.
