Magnetic water

We know that a variety of impurities are constantly dissolved in natural water. However, even small amounts of some of them change the habitual properties of water in a completely unexpected way. Similarly, the effect of certain physical factors is manifested. This makes it possible to greatly increase the efficiency of ordinary water properties or to find a new application for it.
Much is written about the so-called magnetic water and about the amazing results achieved due to its application in various fields of technology. Even after a short-term exposure to water of the magnetic field, the speed of chemical processes and crystallization of dissolved substances increases, adsorption processes intensify, coagulation of impurities and precipitation improve. The effect of the magnetic field on water affects the behavior of the impurities present in it, although the nature of these phenomena has not yet been elucidated.
V.I. Klassen, a well-known scientist in the field of magnetic water treatment, subdivides the hypotheses available on this account into three main groups: "colloidal", "ionic" and "watery". In accordance with the hypotheses of the first group, it is assumed that the magnetic field, acting on water, can destroy the colloidal particles contained in it: "fragments" form centers of crystallization of impurities, speeding up their removal. The presence of iron ions intensifies the appearance of nuclei of crystallization, which leads to the formation of a weak precipitate, which falls out in the form of slime.
Supporters of the hypotheses of the second group explain the effect of the magnetic field by the presence of ions in water, considering that the field has a special effect on the hydration of ions, that is, the formation around them of hydrate shells consisting of water molecules with slightly changed mobility. The larger and more stable such a shell, the more difficult it is for ions to approach or settle in the pores of the adsorbent. Experimental data were obtained in favor of "ionic" hypotheses: it was found that under the influence of a magnetic field, a temporary deformation of the hydration shells of ions occurs, and their distribution in water changes. It is not excluded that the role of ions in the magnetic treatment of water can also be associated with the occurrence of an electric current or with a pulsation of pressure.
Proponents of the hypotheses of the third group suggest that the magnetic field directly affects the structure of water associates. This can lead to deformation of hydrogen bonds or redistribution of water molecules in temporal associative formations, which also entails a change in the physicochemical characteristics of the processes taking place in it.
The magnetic treatment of water proved to be very effective in combating scale. Acceleration of the process of crystallization of mineral impurities in water that has undergone such treatment leads to a significant reduction in the size of the particles of scale-forming salts; As a result, they practically cease to settle on the walls of apparatus and pipes.
In some oil fields, magnetic treatment proved to be even an ally in the protection of reservoirs from pollution. Thus, the reservoir waters no longer drop, as before, into the Caspian Sea: short-term contact of these waters with a magnetic field eliminates the threat of clogging of pipelines with salt deposits, and allows them to be used in a closed technological cycle.
