Last May, I visited the shore of Lake Päijänne at Päijätsalo, an island with a top almost 100 m above the lake surface.
The light green color is typical of early summer in late May.
This is where the path begins.

The beginning of the path went through a flat terrain.
Now it's getting slightly more challenging.
The viewing tower may look a bit dodgy but it was fine.
At the top! That open body of water is one of the largest in southern Finland. It's about 30 km to the opposite shore in the distance.

There used to be a government subsidized ferry service across the lake to the western side and back in the 1980s but it was canceled. That's why there is a sign right after the harbor indicating both the region and the municipality.
