Difference Between Espresso and Coffee

in #coffee6 years ago (edited)

In this video my brother Mark, aka MFA, explains the difference between expresso and coffee. Espresso (also spelled expresso) is more concentrated with caffeine than coffee but since they are not usually served in equivalent amounts usually the espresso based drinks have less total caffeine than coffee drinks.

Difference Between Expresso and Coffee

Expresso vs Coffee.jpeg

Expresso

  • Uses finely ground beans
  • Uses pressure
  • Concentrated

Drip Coffee Maker

  • Uses not as finely ground beans
  • No extra pressure
  • Less concentrated

Per Volume: Expresso style coffee has a much higher concentration of caffeine and solid content but rarely are expresso shots consumed by itself.

Typically, they are the base for other kinds of drinks including:

  • Café lattes
  • Cappuccinos
  • Café Macchiato
  • Americano

On average, expresso based coffees actually have less caffeine than typical drip coffees because of this dilution process.

What do you think about Instant Decaf? I love coffee but love simplicity way more

hmmm I'm pretty much a coffee enthusiast so I gotta grind it and make it myself!

I usually don't break my coffee cup, but when I do, it is not because of coffee, still, I usually use normal coffee powder to make it.
