Will you pay 10 Hive every month to access a service that let's you track your Hive post views?

I'm just brainstorming ways which users can access a Hive service for a fee. The fee can be burned or used for further dev that will bring in value to the token. I know a lot of people have mentioned the need for this and I know it is possible to be implemented as it was available in the early days of Steemit and it was quite useful.

Personally, given the option, I will like to only pay for the month I intend to see my post views as opposed to a monthly or yearly subscription.

What do you think?

Sort:

For what it is worth, the early version from Steemit Inc was broken in the fact that every time you refreshed your browser the count increased.

Wow okay that was too bad. Totally broken! thanks for that key point.

I am 99% sure that was the case. I vividly remember being able to watch it increase as I refreshed the page ... at least on my phone.

Do you however see value in implementing the function?

It's a nice to know, but the real value of knowing the views is to know the demographics behind it, and how to improve it if it's low, otherwise its just another number

Yes, exactly. That's the more reason why I think it is a tool serious bloggers want to adopt, if I'm a blogger who usually generates millions of views in my post, I could monetize it for profit, I could advertise people's product and get paid for it because the views are recorded on the blockchain and arn't manipulateable. Even more, I could know the type of content my audience attracts and tailor my blogging style around there.

We can make the views thing a big deal if we want.

I agree with you brother, considering the amount one hive/Hbd one is earning. One really have to be conscious of how one use it judiciously.

But I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't mind, its a metric for measuring your posts reach and helps you as a blogger know what to do better to get more audience.

Really! I have to check how it works then.

Its not a service yet, na me just dey ask

Maybe you can spearhead the project brother. How about that

I honestly won't pay, it's just an unnecessary expenses to me to be honest.

Lol, hmmmmmn...what if the price was lowered and more rewards were given to users with higher post views?

I still won't cos I'm not in that category of higher post view or rewards no more, so I'll manage my resources to the lowest minimum.

Chuckles!

Thanks for your reply G!
Bless!

Maybe if you first let users try the service for few days and change the model to subscription based it might work out.
If my account starts growing, I might use it to track my growth.

So it means it kinda makes sense right? Thanks for replying.

No.

Lol okay

How about instead of a monthly fee, you take a 1 or 2% cut from the post youre providing the service to?

Hmmn that can totally work, it can just be an option below like this

Screenshot_20200516-093722.png

10% for post count views

So its totally optional upon creation of every post

Instead, wouldn't it be better to configure that in Hive itself to know how many views are there on the post. Not everyone will be keen to know their views if they have to pay an amount.

True true....

The fact is majority are already doing without it anyway.

But lets understand the value of having a post view counter, irrespective of how it is being provided.

Now,

  • Post counter as a service which charges fees,

  • fees are sent to null, or burnt or whatever.

  • posts that use the service have the eye count logo next to "reply" (maybe with the number of eyes on the posts alongside)

  • The community appreciates them more for contributing to the economy. (Through upvotes or engagements or however)

  • They get popular....more people do it.....and....more people do it, or not.

I know Hive can probably provide this service for free, or one of the front ends but like I said from the beginning, I'm just thinking of ways Hive can offer a service to its users to boost its internal economy.

Reddit plans to monetize making a comment with GIF. So if you want to make a comment with GIF, you have to pay.

But there will be very few, literally none to use that service as far as I know. Instead of counter if it can have something like full statistics than it might help

Full statistics will totally nail it finish.

Look at this tweet on twitter

But twitter is not on a blockchain

That's the thing, if I would have created a front-end for hive, I would have kept all the information

I think this would be a nice tool if implemented. However, I would add that there should be flexibility. A monthly subscription isn't bad, but to get people using it well, there should be an option for checking views on a single post at a certain cost, probably 0.2 hive (Just saying).

If for instance, you subscribe to check views on this post, you will only have access to see the number of views with the names of the viewers. You can decide not to check for other posts. Perhaps, people will use it more with this feature than a monthly sub.

Yes yes the fee is totally debateable and the idea is also expandable.
