It's surprising what you can see when you take a wrong turn.
I came across these painted masks from around the world while getting lost looking for the X-ray department of our local hospital.
Mexican?
Very imaginative. Haiti?
There was no explanation on the display? So their country of origin or what inspired them is a best guess from me. Maybe you can recognise the style and leave a comment.
African maybe?
They all remind me of carnival masks that you would see in Mexico, Brazil or Africa.
What do you make of them?
Pretty freaky pieces of art. They probably have some deep and meaningful symbolism which is totally lost on me?

Glad to hear the x-ray was good. I have no idea where the masks might originate from, except maybe for the second one. I think that one would be Mexican ...a Dia de Muertos mask.

I think something very similar was in an old James Bond movie.

Thanks for the post sir. It was a really good one. These mssks look so emphatic and deeply made with some curiosity and perdect thinking. They look great. Though some are ugly but i really like them.

The masks are a mystery to me. I am guessing, but seems like Africa, Mexico and perhaps some Caribbean nations may be represented here.
