Space invader crushes car!

in #streetphotography6 years ago (edited)

As well as the numerous Graffiti art that covers many of the buildings in this part of London. Brick lane also has some unusual art installations like this car perched high up on an old shipping container. It's like some giant Space invader crushing a car?

Here below are a few of the angles that I managed to get. I have no idea what this piece means but it did grab my attention.

Car Art!

This is the view you get when you first enter this side of the Grey Eagle street car park which is often used for events like the skateboarding event I posted a couple of days ago.

How did they get this car up there? You may notice on the right of this photo what looks like a large bronze bow and arrow. A 'bow an' arrow' in old cockney rhyming slang is a 'barrow' or market stall usually on wheels.

It certainly is a weird looking thing and I found I couldn't take my eyes of it hence the several angles. I was trying to figure out what it meant?

It was all a bit surreal and had the effect it was suppose to have. It made me stop and think. That's the point of art isn't it? The arrow is pointing towards the City of London, the ancient financial district of London just an arrows flight away. What was the artist was trying to say?

Hope you enjoyed this little trip into the surreal. Thanks for reading. What do you think?

Glad you liked the artwork

As you say @molometer it's totally surreal. It doesn't do anything for me at all. It looks like it could be the edge of a crushers yard. 😂

It might as well be Tracey Emin's bed or that pile of bricks on the side of the Thames.

I know what you mean about the crushers yard. I've seen plenty of yards with cars at a jaunty angle but not with that space invader stuck on top?

How much did those two artworks go for? £££££$$$$$ mind boggling!?

The general consensus for the bed is 2.2 million @molometer. Apparently it was previously sold to Charles Saatchi in 2000 for a reported £150,000.

Nice little earner! 😂

It's a funny old world, the high end art market, created just for those who inhabit it. Whilst the sane amongst of look on in jaw dropping disbelief.

Presumably a prerequisite of joining said world is to have more money than you know what to do with and to be able to talk intellectual bollocks at the drop of a hat! 😂 😂 😂

Ha ha, say what you see Gillian and I agree with most of your statement.

I'm just not sure how intellectual these people are, if at all?
You have to be a bit thick to fall for this BS passing itself of as art.
It's all about the money these days not talent. These 'art lovers' have found a place to hide their drug or scammed money.
Sounds very familiar to something else around here? Hmm!

Love this quote.

@molometer really its very weird ,that how car reached there. This time I am not sure what the artist is actually trying to say through this.keep sharing.

It's art Rohit, but we see many cars like this in scrap yards perched high up on other cars!

It looks cool

Thanks Vox I like it too.
