The time to buy is when there is no one on the streets

in #marketfriday6 years ago

Today's post is for #marketfriday by @dswigle and it is about the opportunity we have when markets are crashing like they are right now. We hear a lot of people talk the talk but don't walk the walk when it comes to advising 'other' people that they should 'buy the dip'?

When you actually think about it. If everyone has the same information then when exactly do you spot when the dip is happening? Of course not everyone has all of the needed information.

Of course there is no way of knowing so you have to make your own assessment of what you think you are comfortable with price wise. Price signals are pretty good indicators of the state of any market. Including crypto markets. Including the manipulations of the price mechanism.

Empty markets = low volumes in trades

When no one is buying, things become very tough for traditional business models. They still have to pay rents and wages.

Cheap cameras

Even though these good quality cameras above are dirt cheap you must still ask for a discount. You just must and you will get a discount. If you don't, you walk away. It will be even cheaper next week, next month.

Even the mighty Mac Book below (used) is down in price.

After all that very sensible advice above you might need a shot of humour, so feast your eyes on this collection of funny cards below.

There are opportunities right now everywhere you look. If you have spare money floating about!

The often misquoted and misleading Baron Rothschild. Let me put you straight on this little gem of a quote.

"The time to buy is when there's blood in the streets."

Baron Rothschild is attributed with the above quote. What you may not know is that he had knowledge that Britain had just won the Battle of Waterloo against Napoleon a full week before anyone else.

He used carrier pigeons to get the news ahead of anyone else and so when the news finally broke and everyone was panic selling he cleaned up and bought businesses for pennies on the pound.

In this internet age when we all have access to instant information we are in a much more complex and competitive environment.

Insider information, as in the Rothschild case is still the key to success and it always will be. This is really how fortunes are made.

Rothschild wasn't a financial genius but he had the good sense to invest in some carrier pigeons and so had better and timely information before everyone else.

Have a great weekend.

Disclaimer. This is financial advice

You may well be right. Of course for many of us, we buy by (did I just say bye bye?) writing...much like mining. In this way, although the streets aren't as busy as when prices were high, there are still a few of us (you too) holding down the fort!

That's exactly the point. We are here every day mining (blogging etc) away while the majority of people give up and moan that nothing is happening??
Pmsl what are they missing in their brain cases?
This is exactly the time to be getting busy and accumulate as much crypto as possible while it's cheap.

This could also be the cheap ticket on the Titanic. FUD lol

Yes!! Sage advice in my opinion! I will admit that it confused me why everyone is just Like a Rat Deserting a Sinking Ship. Don't they know that is exactly when they should be here?

Have they never played the stock markets?

Well, the only thing I can think of is more for me! :) Well, I'm not going anywhere and I hope that a few more make their way back here. Thanks for the awesome #MarketFriday post. Truly a good one and I appreciate the time and effort spent posting it.

Upped and Steemed

Thanks for spreading the word around Den, it's baffling when you think about the opportunity that these volatile times can offer.

The thing that we risk in blogging our way toward more steem is 'time'.
Which is the most valuable of all things.
I guess some people are unwilling to exchange their time for a volatile asset/reward?

That is exactly when you can make a good choice. I'm glad you shared a market with us today @molometer. Happy weekend

My pleasure, glad you liked it.
