Sunset at Pigeon Rocks Beirut Lebanon

in #beautifulsunday8 years ago

Last year we spent 5 weeks in Lebanon. In this video we take a drive around downtown Beirut in Lebanon at night and see some of the attractions of this amazing capital city.

I know that some people are surprised by my videos of the countries I visit. I know they are not exactly on the tourist map for many but I find them incredible interesting.

The people are warm and friendly and the atmosphere is calm and relaxed. Lebanon has a rich and long history which is truly amazing. I like the fact that there are virtually no tourists. It means you get to see the real place with the real people.

I think the main issues is public perceptions and the mass media. Lebanon has had a turbulent recent past and that is all that most people remember.

It has been at peace for almost 20 years now and the city has been rebuilt. It is as safe a city, as any on earth.

We saw the sunset at Pigeon Rocks on the beautiful Mediterranean beach front and then drove around downtown Beirut. In this video you will see a vibrant, welcoming and just normal city.
It is a beautiful part of the Mediterranean that no one see's

It has a vibrant nightlife with many top night clubs to visit if you feel like dancing.

Beirut is filled with friendly and welcoming people and we had a lovely time. There is an unusual shaped cinema there which the locals call the dome or the egg depending who you talk too.

Either way it is a good example of 60's architecture. I think it used to show early iMax films?

Lebanon was a great pleasure to visit and we will return at some point.
BTW The real name of Beirut is Beyrouth.

Hope you liked the video. Have you been to any countries that are currently off the tourist radar?

I think it's true, that you have to visit these places first hand to see the reality of them. Modern media tends to put a skewed coverage on things to sell stories and push agendas etc.

Straight from the horses mouth as they say, is usually the best way :)

The simple fact is that bad news is more popular than good news with the public. I really wonder about people sometimes. They always seem to want to think the worse of a place with no knowledge.
Best way to find the truth is to go visit and make up our own minds.

Absolutely :)

I've also heard a bit of history about libanon once it is very famous especially among Muslims. but the city has fallen asleep since the incident of civil war

It has a very long history and all religions work and live together in peace and harmony. The city is wide awake now to the reality that all are equal under the sun.

Seems like a little journey back in time.

In some places, it's like time stood still. A fascinating place for sure. The old and the new side by side.

the truth that is incredible so much beauty does not exist words to describe it as I did not give to be or to see even though it is delejos something aso gracis for soñar so beautiful greetings

So you liked it I guessing? lol
