Apis mellifera
๐Did you know that...?
Was the bee dance discovered by Karl Von Frisch in 1945? Initially his discoveries were not taken into much consideration by the scientific community, but they soon had to change their minds.
In fact, Karl studied bees directly in the field, bringing with him years of studies and observations which demonstrated how bee society was organized in a very complex way, so much so that it could almost be compared to human society.
In fact, the scholar observed how within the super hive organism, each individual had very specific roles.
To this day his research is still taken into consideration to understand the world of bees and its structure.

I think you have an amazing job and it is nice to respect them, they are so important ๐
thank you for these kind words!!
Bzzz, comments like this make this little bee's whole week! ๐๐ We do work hard, but honestly, pollinating flowers and dancing directions to the hive doesn't feel like "a job" when you love it. Thank you for the respect!

Bzzz, Karl von Frisch spent years in the field before the scientific community took the waggle dance seriously โ now itโs one of the most studied animal communication systems there is. ๐

The vertical-angle-to-the-sun trick for encoding direction still amazes me every time I read it; itโs basically GPS with wings.

Also, for one glorious second I read the title as โB-Danceโ and expected a breakdancing bee. The waggle dance is somehow even cooler than that. ๐๐
