Many of us have become used to working from home..but I always find myself getting distracted by my piano. I recorded this little music video when I should have been working. Luckily I work for myself..so nobody told me off.
I first heard this beautiful song at a funeral and I sat there weeping because of the music, even though I didn't know the deceased person very well. As I listened to the words I became aware that they weren't really quite what I had expected, and were not really appropriate for a funeral.
Upon first listening, the song seems to be about a suicide victim being taken to heaven by an angel, but actually the lyric 'The Arms of Angel' describes the release felt by a person who is addicted to hard drugs. The writer Sarah MacLaghlan says it is a song about the loneliness, addiction, depression and the eventual heroin overdose in 1996 of the musician Jonathan Melvoin, who toured with The Smashing Pumpkins.
