A few macro shots of a thistle. This edition looked so brave and square-shaped, so regular-attractive, that I wanted to make a proper portrait of it. I think, I nailed it literally in two shots.

Русское название растения, "чертополох", этимологически означает «пугающий чертей», что отражает его особую медико-магическую функцию — отгонять нечистую силу. В.Даль в Толковом словаре живого великорусского языка приводит русские народные названия разных видов этого растения: мордовник, репейник, дедовник, осот, татарник, колючник, чертополох, волчец.

Очень фотогеничное! И притом отличный медонос, подкараулить пчелок или прочую храфстру у его цветков самое милое дело.

Perfect macro...the third one is marvelous that gives a good view..nice colour as well...never saw them in real.
