This weekend was busier than usual with @gorc and @pixietrix having states. Both of them did pretty well, @pixietrix got a silver on beam (level 5 is tough!) and @gorc got silver on pommel and rings and gold on floor and parallel bars as well as second in All Around.
Now there's just end of year stuff to go! Pixie has been busy at fornightly dance rehearsals as she's in the opening performance for the end of year concert. Now I just hope it doesn't clash with the gymnastics end of year display!
I eventually decided I would post the video of me doing shadow 1 because while it's a bit on the boring side it is kind of the most important shadow layer as it sets the base for both light 1 and the other two shadow layers.
I feel a bit like I wasted some time editing the video as somehow I managed to run short of music, must have been using shorter clips than I usually do. I extended a lot of them but still ended up with a minute spare video (which was a vast improvement on half the video!) and because it had already taken more time than anticipated I threw in a few title clips worth of apology and left it silent lime a lamer.
I took ages in the beginning as I've had issues with the texture of my favourite skin shading brush (a 4b pencil brush from a brushpack that doesn't seem to be available anymore :S) if I had the audacity to resize it in previous Krita versions which is why I spend at least a quarter of the video noodling around at glacial speed (despite the 2000% timelapse). I did get to a point where I decided BUGGER IT and resized the brush, and then felt like kicking myself for falling into old habits and not actually checking to see if the problem still existed in the current version of Krita (spoiler: it doesn't).
I did manage to finish the first frame in between fighting with editing:
The second frame is coming along nicely. Need to finish shadow 3 and then I can get cracking on light 3 and the overlay/s (not sure how many I'll need at this stage, might be able to get away with one).

I've cut the video for the second wip video which shows me doing light 1, and both 2s for this frame, just need to cut the audio and hopefully I won't have as much trouble as I did with the last one!
3d is still on hold for the moment, if I have time or get irritated enough with this thing I will try to hack at it a bit more. In the meantime my current plan is to just try and knock this one out as quickly and nicely as possible. My current distraction is the never ending proof reading. I found more things to edit again.
Finally, I'm considering making a Ko-Fi profile to work alongside the Patreon and the steem. I could make up some crap about eggs and baskets and reach and whatnot but I'm just trying to be convenient to as many people as possible, and just need to figure out how much extra work it's going to be. Current quickie research suggests "not very" as my intention is to use it as what seems to be the original purpose as a little fiat tip jar, so may be able to make the decision by tonight.

Always a pleasure to read about your progress / process - or as much as I can grasp of it - whether it feels like progress to you or not. You are a wizard with words and I like your art and overall personality.
Keep being and sharing you ;>)
Naww you're so sweet ^_^ I'm not so much a wizard with words these days, you might have liked my writing back when I was actually going to be a writer, had more skill (from doing it more often) and a much bigger vocabulary back then :D
but then all I really needed was the experience to back it up because I've looked back at some of the more recent stuff from late teens/early 20s and my writing was good but it's evident to me now that with some of the stuff I had nfi what I was talking about XD
reminds me beauty and the beast somehow, not sure why, maybe the hairy/fury character?
you are too good btw, why, why, why are you too good on this kind of thing. i hate you lol
i can even draw with pencil -.-
There is a bit of a beauty and the beast vibe with their backstory, except they're twins XD
LoL aww thanks ^_^ I was laughing so hard at this comment gorc came in to find out what was so funny and walked out laughing after I read it to him XD If it's any consolation I can't actually draw with a pencil either, computer enables me a lot ;D
These are looking good Ry.
It sounds like you had a busy weekend and now a great drawing to boot! I was lucky to have taken the weekend off, which I have not done in awhile, it was so good to relax :) congrats on the medals for the kids :)
I thought it was busy, but then again maybe it's not that busy in the grand scheme and I'm just getting old in my old age as today I feel really flat and really struggled to get out the door to take my dogs even for a 10min run XD side effect of that is I'm totally lost right now as I have a lot of stuff that needs doing but I don't know where to start and only want to do some of it so end result I'm not doing anything lol.
Yay for weekends off! Especially if you haven't had one in a while :D Hope you got heaps of rest and relaxation and recharging and whatnot :)
Thanks ^_^
Congrats to the kids for the medals! I'm glad their hard work paid off!! Also, the first frame's looking good! Pace yourself for the final stretch of the year so you won't time yourself out when the holidays kick in. Just a friendly reminder, MATE o' clock!
Thanks matey :D Yeh good thing they work hard in training, competition was tougher than last year x_x I would have been proud of them even if they hadn't medalled, getting into the top 8 in regionals to be able to qualify for states was also pretty tough, especially for the girls.
LoL mate o'clock the things you manage to tag onto that never fails to amuse me XD
My pacing is atrocious. I kind of need/want to finish this piece before the end of the year as the trucks head out in January I think. I can't remember I'd have to go find someone who wrote an explanation post recently. But there is kind of a time limit :S
On the bright sde I'm going home for a bit at the end of the year and everything will be chill then :) Aside from Christmas which is always chaos.
I imagine there's a parallel universe, let's say the darkest timeline, where Evil Fyn forbade the kids to come home because they didn't bring home medals. Consequently, the Evil kids don't work hard at all and just say 'meh whatever' all the time.
You know, I'm surprised I'm finding tons of words to insert "mate." "Bro" is quite easy to use, but "sis" is where I'm having a hard time with!
Christmas Island-bound? Always great to recharge!
Well done to your little ones!! That's a great result to come away with!! Your lighting is looking pretty good too.
Thanks :) I thought so, and would have been happy if they'd come away with no medals as long as they'd tried their hardest, as getting there is an achievement already :)
And thanks again, lighting and texturing are things I'm constantly working on so nice to know I'm getting better :D
Great Talent friend! I like! Blessings!
