Maintaining Peace At All Levels

in #motivation • 3 years ago

Peace is one of the very important things in life that make for effective coexistence and good relationships between people. As a matter of fact, it is in the atmosphere of peace that every other thing thrives. For example, no one will want to establish their business in a very chaotic environment that is ladened with untold violence. But if there is a relative peace, then business can thrive well. Peace is one of the virtues that we should lay very big emphasis on. Here, we shall take a look at some ways by which you can maintain peace at all levels.

The first way to maintain and live in peace with others is to have inner peace. That is, make peace with yourself. It is true that there may be things you did in the past or what you experienced in the past that may have created unrest within your soul. But you have to let them go, by forgiving yourself for the things of the past, so as to maintain your inner peace. It is by having peace on the inside that you can live in peace on the outside. That is, you can only give the peace that you already have. If you find it difficult to have peace within yourself, you cannot live in peace with others. There are many ways to maintain peace on the inside; like through meditation, practising mindfulness, yoga, breathing exercise, etc. You can use these to facilitate your inner peace.

Another way to maintain peace with others is by learning how to communicate effectively. Some of the things that create unrest can just be manner of approach or wrong communication. There is a way you can talk to someone and not only will the person pick offense in the words but it may lead to chaotic scenarios. Before you speak, you need to carefully observe and analyse the potential effects and consequences of such word. More so, you should also know that communication goes way beyond just speaking with the mouth - your body languages, expressions, tones, etc, are part of the communication tools to consider.

A friend once said that "calm words calms the soul." You will be surprised how good and effective communication can go a long way to prevent things that would have negatively affected peace. I remember a time when a friend of mine came complaining about something and I sensed how angry she was, even though it was only based on her assumptions and not on fact, but I had to talked calmly with her. Everyone has expected me to have reacted in a volatile manner but I did not. Later, she noticed she was wrong and she came back to apologise. Imagine if I had talked irrationally to her, we may have created a scene and I would have been the one to apologise later.

The next way to maintain peace is to promote tolerance, and accept people's personalities. The truth is that everyone is different and will not conform to your expectations, so you have to learn to accept people the way they are. Humans are very diverse, both in ideas, ethnicity, religion, social status, political inclination, background, etc, so you have to learn to welcome and embrace these diversities so as to live peaceably with them. Take this instance; political and religious diversity and differences have created some very massive unrest even in this part of the world. If only people will learn to embrace these diversities, the world will have more peace. Remember that there are things you cannot change about someone, so learn to accept them like that.

The last way we will look at in our quest to maintain peace is to learn to forgive people. Obviously offences will surely arise from people which you cannot do anything about, but you have to choose to forgive. That you have forgiven does not mean that the person has automatically become your friend nor does it mean that you approved of the wrong that they did to you, but it simply means that you want peace to reign. Anything you do for peace to reign is actually worthwhile. When you learn the art of forgiveness, you will discover how easily you will leave in peace with people. Even if you want to make a point or disagree with someone's opinion, always remember that there is always a peaceful way to do that.
