Survived a fatal Anaphylactic shock

One night in mid-February, I had a terrifying health scare. After something got stuck in my throat, I actually coughed up blood—which had never happened before. This triggered a severe, full-body allergic reaction with significant swelling. Since my father-in-law was already in the ICU, I wanted to avoid being admitted to the hospital myself. Instead of going to the ER, I called a doctor friend who guided me through taking anti-allergy medication and advised I see an ENT the following morning.

My son took me to a known ENT Doctor (who had done his surgery) and there was nothing unusual with the throat, except swelling. He advised few anti-allergy medicines along with a steroid and could not explain the root cause. This is where the problem lies - there is no answer to why, in English Medicine. They can treat you for what has happened but cannot resonate always why it happened.

And I am a strong critic of steroid and that brought me more trouble, the allergy was so severe that, it took out an entire layer of skin from my body, including hands, feet and the entire body. Ideally taking the steroid would have been a better decision, but sticking to my decision, made me pay a hefty price to go through a skin rebirth.

And in this entire process, which has spanned for more than couple of months, I went to several doctors, including AIIMS, the premium government hospital, to know the underlying cause and no one could tell me. I am a strong advocate of alternative medicines ( neuropathy , homeopathy) and have connection with a very good homeopathy doctor ( in her sixties who is now residing at Canada, and still consulting) and only she could diagnose this to be Anaphylactic shock, about which we had no idea previously. The allergy caused widespread swelling in the body and drove my Eosinophil levels to double the normal - that's a natural defense system of the body to catch the allergens.

Apart from many other personal challenges that's going in life, this was another big hurdle that I had to go through and I must tell you these difficult times have passed only with the help of divine touch that brought a lot of positive energies.

This was my new baby skin a week back and it was an entire different storm of life that has passed through, but it has taught me some valuable lessons - to be more patient and control my emotions with more focus on divine touch and accept the fact that "this too shall pass" - all life experiences—pleasure and pain, joy and sorrow—are temporary.

The contact between the senses and the sense objects gives rise to fleeting perceptions of happiness and distress. These are non-permanent, and come and go like the winter and summer seasons. One must learn to tolerate them without being disturbed.

That is really, really horrible. After living a long life I've come to realize that there is nothing extraordinary about being ill. It is another state of being. Our time will come, and then we must learn to deal with it. For the rest of us, those of us who are not ill, stop and take care. I think that's life.

As for the steroids...I take them daily. I hate taking them, a small dose, but without them I cannot function. This I have come to accept. It's humbling. I can't control everything. Sometimes I have to bend to circumstance.

I am so happy you got over this terrible episode. I guess symbolically you can look at your new skin as a new beginning.

This I have come to accept. It's humbling. I can't control everything.

Very well said, even after doing everything right, we cannot guarantee that there will be no suffering, because they are results of our previous births or so called destiny. That's the reason, many people here choose the divine path, giving up every desire and still being super happy, because the inner peace can only be attained with divine touch and tolerating all the sufferings with pleasure. Pujya Shri Hit Premanand Govind Sharan Maharaj Ji (https://www.youtube.com/@BhajanMarg) has been my greatest inspiration - a man surviving for more than two decades even after both kidney damaged.

giving up every desire and still being super happy

We have to let it go anyway, eventually. Accepting that is a path toward peace.

I'm glad you are better :)

Thank you, @kpoulout and @topcomment :)

Wow what a trial! With all the work and gardening you do, that must have been a real challenge to get through. Those little hiccups sure have a way of changing mindset a little and help you appreciate our health.

Glad you are on the other side of it old friend.

Ya, it has been a life changing experience.

This is so scary seeing how your skin peeled off and most especially the feet and your hand. But it great to see you doing better now and the fact that your are able to get over this because you're stronger than whatsoever it is. Have a wonderful day man and I wish you a healthy lifestyle @sanjeevm

Thank you so much.

You're welcome

Wow so sorry about this scare and this experience. A lot of people take steroids and some people get some very reactions from taking it, but I guess the idea is that it's always a trade off that gets the job done even though it has horrible side effects and experiences.

I'm happy you're better now

Thank you so much, this is a memorable bad time that has passed.

Hey! Sorry for this. Please, do take proper treatment for it. Sorry for the shock, you will soon bounce back strong and healthy.

The good part is you learned these valuable lessons which will help you live a better life from now on. Hope you fully recover briefly

Sorry to hear about this. Alot of pain you had to so through. Take care dear.

Thank you dear.

Aaah! That was a terrible condition

Thats crazy bro, glad you healed up like a champ!

Wow, that is super scary! I think they call stuff like that idiopathic. When they don't have a reason for why it happened.

That's the most unacceptable stuff - they have a name for everything, even for things that they don't know.

Indeed!

Greetings, my friend. The important thing is that he recovers well and his skin regenerates quickly so he can return to his activities. But he is still certain that those medications caused that anaphylactic reaction on his entire body.

That allergy was truly a tough blow for his body, but the important thing is that he'll gradually recover from all those health issues. That's why he hasn't been as active with us lately, but what's really important is that he makes a full recovery. At the same time, a life lesson is learning to value what truly makes us happy, because only those of us who have had a family member very ill and fighting for their life know how to appreciate every second we're allowed to breathe.

Wow! That is scary, especially the fact that doctors could not figure out why this has happened. I don't know if I would have stayed strong like you and would have said no to steroids.

Ya, taking steroid would have been a better decision that I learned a hard way. Sometimes, it's better to suppress, because tolerating this was very tough task.

I am very sad to see this. A few days ago, the same thing happened to me. I had also taken medicine. And here, the medical staff also give medicine in the same way and without looking at me. So when we go there and say that we have a cough or cold, they have medicine ready and give it to us right there. The same thing happened to me. I also had an allergy. And after a long time, after a couple of hours, my health started to improve and I regained consciousness.

This is indeed a scary experience for you but it's also reminds me how a wonderful creator God is - imagine the unique way our body system is designed with the ability to fight and heal.

You lost your old skin for a new and beautiful beginning.... Take care!

Glad you're ok my friend, that sounds like a terrifying experience.

Thank you.

Light & Healthiness BroSir... 🙏

That looks bad! I am so sorry, it's really terrible when you reach for a doctor's help, and they have no answers to your problem. Stay safe!!

Not taking any steroids was hard but good decision, hope you recover soon!
