Quill dog and I got out for another snowshoe hike yesterday while it was dumping snow, again... It's been snowing a lot so I decided that we would take a big hike to a favorite spot of Quill's - Dog Beach at Donner Lake, in Truckee, California. I'm not sure if that's what it's officially called but if you say "dog beach" to any Truckee local, they know exactly where you are talking about.
I shot a quick video while out there. It was a big hike but not a lot of photography was accomplished as the wet heavy snow made it impossible to keep the lens dry. I was only able to fire off a few photos before the lens was wet and the photos were blurry. The video is a quick look at our adventure. Not much in the way of photo advice or tutorials, just a quick look at the day in the life of a Truckee photographer and his dog.
Here are the "keeper" photos, all available as large fine art prints. Shot on a Canon 5DS R with a 24-105mm lens.

Looks like a nice walk. I think Quill could smell the other dogs even under the snow or maybe he was just enjoying a nice roll in the snow. Donner/Tahoe looks similar to Vermont. Lots of pine here too. A little more hardwood - lots of maple, some oak, walnut, beech, ash. Plus mountains are better in Sierras at least much taller haha
You might be right, he can smell and find a snow buried toy fairly well. We mostly have pine, fir, and aspens around here. I've got to make it out that direction with the camera sometime. Our big mountains are a mess right now. Most of the local businesses are closed today and officials are begging people to stay off the roads. Not sure if Quill will get a big walk today...
It feels like you live next to me. It's been snowing in our city for 2 days.
Have you played with the neural network? Have you tried to "draw" using midjorney?
I have not played with the neural network or drawn with midjorney but it looks like I might now be using google today to find out what that is...
It just wont stop snowing this year! I love it but I need a break. Cheers!

My son transformed his family photos, and I "wrote from scratch".
And I decided to share. you can look at the result.
I wonder why they called it dog beach.

lovely end of February weather :D
And silly amounts of snow in our 10 day forecast. It's not over yet...
we had a lot of snow last 3 days but temps are over 0C through the day, so at night we have snow till noon there is non. but if it was - it would probably look like in your video.
Sometimes I wish ours was gone by noon. Enjoy it!
WOW thats a lot of snow, look at your dog going deep, thats like two to three feet of snow but does look like you and your dog got a great adventure, cant be easy to move around, great pics
