I think that swimming ought to be a good overall exercise as you use your whole body. I have been using our garden pool when it's been warm. It is only a few strokes per length, but I would hope it does me some good. It makes a change from running anyway and it does not really stress my body too much. I do not log the swimming activities as my watch does not really do it. I tried a swimming app on it, but did not get much useful from it. The weather has turned a little cooler now so I'll wait for it to warm up again.
I am doing body weight exercises too most days and feel like I'm getting stronger. That is giving some good results on my running.

you seem to be just an all around sort of person. I like those small pools where people install some sort of straps so that they don't actually move. I've never used one though, they are probably pretty frustrating or maybe even dangerous.
We've thought about those straps, but not tried them. The pool isn't deep, so it should be safe.
