It was Mother's Day here and as usual, Smallsteps and I made a nice breakfast spread of fresh fruits (and the first strawberries of the season), cheese croissants and Karelian pies, (which look like a crude drawing of a woman's nethers). It was a nice morning, despite getting up at 530 with the dog and then chasing him around the yard in nothing but a towel until I could wrangle him inside.

We did a gift this year, which is normal I guess every year, but it various as to what it is. Smallsteps always makes a card and generally makes some kind of handicraft thing (a keychain out of beads and hearts this year), and I got her a handbag from a brand she likes, and is really practical. I think she was happy with it all.
We had "mystery" evening plans, but in between we dropped by the in-laws' place to say hi and have a bit of ice cream. It was only a drop-by, because they were going to my sister-in-laws' for visit. And, we had to drop by there also to drop off some birthday presents. I am not sure why we didn't just all meet up together, but we had to come home between to take the dog out anyway.
Put your thinking hat on.
That is the clue my wife got and she picked that we were going to an escape room and since Smallsteps is awesome at keeping secrets like this, she gave nothing away.

Some of the problems are going to be woolly.
This was what I said later, which was too easy since we were sitting down at a café next to the cinema, and she guessed we were going to see a movie with sheep in it. And yes, we saw a movie called The Sheep Detectives, which was pretty good considering what it was, with a fair few funny moments. Obviously, it isn't a super complex crime story since it is from ages 7+, but it was decent and it was an easy watch for the three of us.
As the title suggests - we ate too much candy.
I say "we" but they didn't, it was me. And I am regretting it now, because I can feel my head swimming like I am ill, because I haven't had anywhere near that much sugar for a while. It is a good reminder how bad it is for me and I suspect I will have a headache tomorrow, like a hangover.
Oh well.
It was a good day all up and I think a laidback, enjoyable day for my wife and daughter.
I'll take it as a win.

Karelian pies! That's what I was talking about the other day, couldn't remember the name. We had them every day when we were at your place, remember?
Yeah, they are great, and cheap!
We also went to a movie theater today for Mother's Day and watched the Devil Wears Prada 2, which I really enjoyed probably because of my past as a fashion photographer :)
You know, I am unsure if I have seen the first one. I have seen clips at least, but unsure. Did others like it too?
Yes, this was primarily for my wife and daughter, I would have chosen Project Hail Mary instead :) So my wife really liked it and daughter said she liked it less than the first one, but I think that is because this one was more deep than the first one and had themes that 12 year old one is not quite ready to comprehend...
My day went off the rails pretty quickly too as far as food is concerned. It's funny how that can happen on holidays like this.
Calorie deficit the rest of the week? :D
I've been trying to do that anyway since my last doctor appointment.
They ordered cappuccino but I got an afogato, classic double dessert since we already got tiramisu to share. Can never have enough dessert! Some hangovers are worth it!
I would start with a dessert if I could. Sweet teeth galore!
Happy Mother Day!
Nice to see the meaningful gifts being shared, I think those handmade details add a special touch to the day.
I think I am more sentimental than my wife and put effort into getting something useful. And getting handmade nonsense is always great.
Enjoybyour wife, happy mothers day for her.
Here i prefer going to go to the restaurant.
But if you can cooked to your wife it is better.
It is common to do a bunch these days, but it would be about 100€ just for that. Crazy.
I thought about having a date( maybe second) in the escape room. But like I said that girl was not single. So I guess she escaped me instead...😛
Just don't lock a woman in your basement, please.
Thank you for remembering to celebrate mothers. Many blessings to small steps. Have a great week
Was it mother's day there too? Is that a thing?
Yes, Sunday was Mothers' Day in our country too. In fact, the mothers cooked one of our traditional delicacies to celebrate it in church
Karelian pies for breakfast? Now that calls for a repeat visit.
Have you ever had one?
Happy Mother's day! 🎉🎊🥳
Sure having a great day with your wife together with your daughter is such an amazing moment for you not a bad day, you and your family are one so when they win you win, and when you win they also win, so indeed this day is a big win to you.🥳💯
Yep. Good times.
Sure 👍
