I've noticed a lot of big movies coming out in the next year or so. Here are five of the ones I think are interesting.
Gladiator 2
Gladiator is one of my favorite movies. Gladiator 2 takes place 20-30 years after the end of the first movie and focuses on the life of Lucius. It will take a lot of work to recreate the magic found in the original. There is no current release date but based on the early nature of the film it will likely be 2021 or later.
Top Gun 2
If you were to ask what my favorite single movie was, it would likely be Top Gun. I've seen it at least 10 times. Top Gun 2 continues following Pete Michell as a flight instructor. While he is an outstanding pilot he fails to move up the chain of command. Ed Harris, Tom Cruise, and Val Kilmer are returning to continue playing the original characters. Val Kilmer has been suffering from throat cancer so it is unknown how much of a role he will play in the sequel.
Top Gun 2 is set to premiere June 26, 2020, 34 years after the original.
Django Unchained 2
Django Unchained is a classic Quentin Tarantino flick. Blood, action, and plenty of holy shit moments. One of the interesting things I heard about Django Unchained 2 is the appearance of Zorro in the sequel. It will be interesting how the two different worlds are merged into one.
Doctor Sleep (The Shinning 2)
Doctor Sleep is the sequel to The Shinning. It focuses on Dan Torrance, the boy who had the vision of Redrum (Murder backward) on the wall. Dan appears to have an unnatural gift in the movie and meets others who do as well. The sequel comes out on November 8th, 2019.
McClane (Die Hard 6)
McClane will focus on John McClane has a 60-year-old man as well as his early 20's. Early rumors said it would be focused on his son but it has been confirmed the movie will focus on John McClane fairly equally in present-day and his early twenties. There is no set release date for McClane but is said to be released next year.
Can't say I'm a fan of anything that has a '2' suffix attached. Top Gun really should be left in 1986 where it belongs, though Django Unchained may well work. At least the actors wont be geriatrics.
Zorro popping in Django? Now, I’m curious.
You could put Zorro in any 5 of them and it would make sense:))
I am excited about Die Hard 6 and these other sequels , now I am glad that I am not dead yet to see these movies :D
No fucking way?!? Gladiator two and Django two? That's awesome. Is Tarantino directing Django?
Die hard doesnt surprise me. They can ride that franchise forever if they want to.

5 movies that don't need a sequel.
Also accurate.
Ooft, there is a lot that should be left alone here. Mostly Gladiator!!
The Matrix 4, Avatar 2,3,4 and 5 (lol)... The list goes on and on.
Not sure I want to see Gladiator 2 or Top Gun 2 though. We just had a new Rambo so I wouldn't mind another Die Hard. Another one I'm looking forward to is The Expendables 4. I can't help it, but I love those movies.
Every single one of these has massive shoes to fill. I will gladly pay to see all of them though. I think if any of these were going to be flops it would be Doctor Sleep. I don't feel a sequel is necessary there and it stands the biggest chance of staining the reputation of the original.
from 50 pages that i read (i really need to start that book again, i bought it ages ago) i feel it will have nothing to do with the first part, except that King connected it with the kid as there is a premise for the events ( i could be completely wrong :D ). They should maybe not even call it The Shinning 2 but they will ride on the fame of the first one...
I feel Gladiator also does not need part 2.
Django Unchained 2 could work, because its Tarantino. Nothing will happen for half of the movie, it will have few bloodbaths, bunch of not necessary scenes that are interesting, and it will be fun :D
lol, that's a funny breakdown of Tarantino films. It took me a second but then i realized you are exactly right.
and i do love his films. maybe because of that not needed scenes. like that madonna or tipping talk in reservoir dogs, or French fries in pulp fiction

You forgot about one and only, Fast and Furious. :D Everyone is waiting for that movie to come out. :D
Damn, barring Doctor Sleep, I love all the others that you have mentioned. The thing with sequel though is that I hope they don't mess the original story line.. 300 did that. Didn't like the sequel. Anyway, hope these are fine.
I loved 300, the prequel sucked.
Yeah, the prequel sucked.. That's exactly because they tried to mesh with the original story and messed up the entire thing. 300 was too good but the prequel was horrible.
I hope nothing of that happens with these 5 movies.. On a side note, what are the chances of seeing Tom Cruise in Top Gun 2? 😁

Django Unchained 2 ? WoooOT
