Tao Dan Park, Ho Chi Minh City

One thing you simply cannot forget when visiting a city is… enjoying its parks. The number of parks in a city can also serve as an indicator of how well-organised it is. And during my day in Ho Chi Minh City, I came across several parks tucked away in various corners; what’s more, they were all spacious, well-maintained and clean.

One of the parks I saw was on my way to the beautiful cathedral. We walked quite a distance and when we saw the park, we sat down for a moment. At first, we only intended to sit for a short while. But, as time went on, it felt so comfortable. Although Ho Chi Minh is as hot as Jakarta, the presence of many tall, leafy trees made the air in this park feel refreshing. I was able to sit back and relax whilst enjoying the gentle breeze.

The flowers were neatly planted, a group of elderly people were doing yoga amidst the park’s fresh atmosphere, and, to top it all off, I found a beautiful place of worship. Of course, I took a photo of it. It’s a shame the place of worship was closed; otherwise, I would certainly have gone inside first to have a look. I don’t know why, but I do enjoy visiting places of worship of all faiths. Proof of that is that my destination today was also a cathedral (though it turned out to be a no-go because it was undergoing renovation).

And as I sat down to rest, I chatted with my friend about life, about improvisation and development, and the dynamism of life that influences our way of thinking. It turns out we’ve come this far in our understanding of life. Even though it seems as though everything is just left to flow, nothing is devoid of meaning. Whether it’s me or my friend, we’re currently at a stage where we’re wondering whether we’ll eventually find our respective soulmates, or whether we’ll have to resign ourselves to living alone?

We talked about so much more until the tiredness in our legs faded, and then we continued our journey. Thank you for reading my post, and see you in the next one.
