Sepia Saturday - Magnolia Pier

in #sepiasaturday5 years ago

Sepia Saturday is another one of those hash tags that I've been meaning to give a go, and today I've finally done it! I was partially inspired by the fact that in my hometown, the Magnolia pier is in the process of being completely replaced. It got me a bit nostalgic, so I thought that giving some of my most recent pictures (June 2017) from that area the sepia treatment would be fun.

To get the effect, I used the editing feature on PicMonkey, and also added the "Dark Edges" filter because I thought it added to the old style atmosphere.

Oh, and don't miss the post that hash tag host, @old-guy-photos did this week, called Have a Super Sepia Saturday!!!. I especially like his old timey sign shot.

Now here are my Sepia Saturday shot of the Magnolia Pier!

Oh I like the vignetting of the corners! Nice tough. I may have to steal that once in a while!! Well done!

Steal away, @old-guy-photos! And thank you very much! 😊

It does have that nostalgic feel to it now. Should be a precious photo after many years when you look back.

Thank you, @roselifecoach! And I'm sure it will - I have very fond memories of that area. 😊

I have always been a big fan of sepia-treatment on photos, and love the vintage effect it gives! Your series is wonderful and you certainly used the sepia processing to good effect on these! The vignette on the edge is a wonderful touch! 😊

Same here, @thekittygirl but I don't think I've ever done a sepia filter before - the monochrome definitely, but I don't recall going further than that. Thanks so much for your encouragement - I'm thinking of doing more like this in the future. 😊

Hahahahahahahaha... exactly like that! :D

Nice sepia renditions of the old pier!

Thanks so much, @dmcamera! I'm hoping to do a followup some time in the near future, once the new pier is finished. Appreciate you stopping by! 😊

I hope it won’t be too long! Our local Jacksonville Beach pier was completely rebuilt with concrete pillars after Hurricane Floyd. The new one had damage to the end third of it after both Hurricanes Matthew and Irma. It partially reopened last year, but reconstruction of the damaged part won’t start until this fall. I so miss walking the 1/3 of a mile out to the very end!!

Thanks, @dmcamera! From what I can see on a local FB page, they're making good progress. And ours is wicked short compared to your Jacksonville pier - that must be an amazing walk, and I hope they get it done quickly in the fall so you can walk it again soon!

Yes, it’s always got to incorporate a walk to the end of the pier in the middle of a beach walk.
