Should @steemcleaners and @cheetah be more tolerant with new users?

This is a small rant about @cheetah and @steemcleaners.

I have seen new users blacklisted in their first week at SteemIt merely for posting the same content they share on their personal blogs. That pains me...

How are we supposed to capture new users if people are flagged just 3 days after their first couple of posts?

I understand the need to confirm that the blog indeed belongs to the users in question but I cannot comprehend nor agree with the philosophy of "Shoot First, Ask Later"

The way @steemcleaners and @cheetah manages suspicions of plagiarism should be more lenient towards new users.

Some people get flagged without even being allowed to defend themselves... These services should, at the very least, allow people to reply to the accusations - before being flagged.

Imagine what it feels like for a new user to wait 3 weeks for his account, finally make a few posts, stay away for a couple of days, and return to see his/her reputation lowered to negative numbers and the first two or three posts hidden.

All because they failed to reply to the accusations in a matter of a couple of hours. Is this fair?

If that was your first experience here, would you stay or would you go away?

Besides that, the only way to defend yourself from a plagiarism flag is to register on Discord, a service that's blocked in some countries, mostly in Asia.

What if you can't (or don't want to) use Discord? You're pretty much finished before you even begin.

Now, for the poll question.

Do you think new users should have an opportunity to defend themselves before being flagged into oblivion?

  • Yes! New users should have the benefit of the doubt and be allowed to reply, before being flagged.

  • No! People should be flagged without the opportunity to defend themselves.

Answer the question at dpoll.xyz.

Needless to say:- YES!
Also, "abuse of power" should be addressed and establish some rules to prevent it. Better if flagging and high value down-votes are regulate by review.

First of all, I'd like to say a big thank-you to @trincowski for bringing out this topic, I've seen so many incident of cheetah banning people. Example the following accounts @motivatedgirl.. I don't know what the problem in her case.. But cheetah said she was involved in fraudulent activities in the blockchain.. Mostimes such info may be wrong!

They should be explain how they reach their conclusion. Have they contacted the original author in another site and he confirmed that SteemIt account was not his own?

All I see is messages that sound like:

Boom, you're banned.

No explanation given. 😶

PS: Thanks for stopping by.

Repeat offenders are the problem.
Especially new users need to get a chance to learn. There should be an escalating system of measures.
I have seen new accounts being flagged into oblivion.
Also: how are you supposed to defend yourself with limited RC?

Hmm, had no idea this is actually happening. If they really get flagged for their own content, those 2 services should definitely change their policy/rules.

And yes again!
It was nice if they or some kind of them, did a "guidelines job".

Thanks! If you vote through DPoll you don't need to copy paste the reply! ;-)

User adoption and user retention are key concepts to steemit's success. @cheetah & @steemcleaners are either unaware of these two concepts or choose to ignore them, in the pursuit of steem moolah!

@trincowski

Both of these law bots should be disbanded, they are the biggest enemy of steemit's success.

Great post, a lot of us know this is one of the biggest problems here.

I pick Other

As a member of the @steemcleaners I can tell you people get many chances before being blacklisted, I tend to give people 10 warnings before cheetah banning them. If it is a case of ID theft and getting verified they are given at least a week to respond and are asked multiple times before being banned.

So not really sure what you mean by blacklisting after a few days and giving them the benefit of the doubt, we already give them plenty of chances.

Hmmm. Can you please help me understand what happened with this person?

I don't see 10 warnings on @saqib-bashir's account. Just one. Then he's immediately banned.

Can you explain it, please? Has he contacted you in any other way, outside of SteemIt?

They won't explain themselves, they believe they are above the law.

@steemcleaners actually gives the people a chance to dispute. If they do and everything turns out fine, they don't flag people instantly.

I understand. But for the rest of us, it's not clear at all why users are banned. I think a small explanation would be nice, along with the ban. No?

Of course, that would be really nice. =)

Nice rant for sure that is not fair imo

@cheetah doesn't blacklist at first. It just gives a small upvote and then notifies that it has found similar content elsewhere online. @steemcleaners isn't a bot, and so all of that is done by humans... just to quickly clear up some misconceptions in the comments!

@cheetah and @steemcleaners need to be closed down or moderated, stop making excuses for them.

They call people scammers and cheaters for posting their own original content. Which leads to blacklisting innocent people, when they don't create a discord account and beg for mercy... no thanks!

For anyone interested in this topic don't take my word for it... just go check out their blogs and take a look at all the shit they are stirring up.

  • They are anti user engagement
  • They are anti user adoption
  • They are causing innocent people to leave this place
  • They don't seem to give a shit
