That makes us better men than we could have dreamed we could be, IMHO. Like Hurt, I learned that the pursuit of money over goodwill of good people was a mistake, and I came to bitterly regret it. I have found the opposite is true of pursuing goodwill over money, and far more important is that I become a man I could not have imagined me becoming before I did. It's like becoming a father does the same thing to us, because we have love and responsibility much more meaningful than any we have for ourselves. At least that was my experience.
