Vor ein paar Monaten war ich am Niederrhein unterwegs. Zufällig kam ich an einem Wohnmobilstellplatz-Schild vorbei und beschloss, hier zu übernachten. Wachtendonk ist eine Gemeinde am unteren Niederrhein in Nordrhein-Westfalen im Kreis Kleve und gehört zum Regierungsbezirk Düsseldorf.
A few months ago I was on the road in the Lower Rhine. By chance I passed an RV park sign and decided to spend the night here. Wachtendonk is a municipality on the lower Lower Rhine in North Rhine-Westphalia in the district of Kleve and belongs to the administrative district of Düsseldorf.
Die wechselvolle Geschichte von Wachtendonk reicht bis in die Römerzeit zurück. Im 3. und 4. Jahrhundert besetzten die Franken das Land. Von 1568 - 1648, während des niederländischen Freiheitskampfes gegen die spanische Herrschaft, wurde Wachtendonk mehrmals von den Niederländern erobert und von den Spaniern zurückerobert. Nach 1713 gehörte Wachtendonk zu Preußen und wurde 1794 von den Franzosen besetzt. Ab 1815 gehörte das Gebiet bis zum Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs wieder zu Preußen.
The eventful history of Wachtendonk dates back to Roman times. In the 3rd and 4th century the Franks occupied the land. From 1568 - 1648, during the Dutch struggle for freedom against Spanish rule, Wachtendonk was conquered several times by the Dutch and recaptured by the Spanish. After 1713 Wachtendonk belonged to Prussia and was occupied by the French in 1794. From 1815, the area belonged to Prussia again until the end of the Second World War.
Die Ruine der Burg Wachtendonk wurden bei Ausgrabungen freigelegt. Das Zentrum von Wachtendonk ist restauriert worden und steht unter Denkmalschutz. Eine Liste der Baudenkmäler in Wachtendonk finden man hier. Spuren aus der Belagerungszeit finden sich an der Westfassade des Turms der Pfarrkirche St. Michael aus dem Jahr 1361.
The ruins of Wachtendonk Castle were uncovered during excavations. The center of Wachtendonk has been restored and is a listed building. A list of monuments in Wachtendonk can be found here. Traces from the siege period can be found on the west facade of the tower of the parish church of St. Michael, built in 1361.
Der Wohnmobilstellplatz ...
... steht ganzjährig für 24 Wohnmobile zur Verfügung und liegt am Rande des Dorfes. Das Gelände ist asphaltiert. Teilweise ist der Boden uneben. Es gibt Frischwasser 50 Cent/60 L. und Strom 50 Cent/kWh. Die Entsorgung von Grauwasser und chemischer Toilette ist im Preis inbegriffen. Die Parkgebühr beträgt 7 Euro/24h. Die Anmeldung und Bezahlung erfolgt über einen Briefkasten. Es gibt ausgewiesene Rad- und Wanderwege. Bis zur Altstadt sind es ca. 500 m.
The RV park ...
... is available all year round for 24 mobile homes and is located on the outskirts of the village. The terrain is asphalted. Partly the ground is uneven. There is fresh water 50 cents/60 L. and electricity 50 cents/kWh. Disposal of gray water and chemical toilet is included in the price. The parking fee is 7 Euro/24h. Registration and payment is through a mailbox. There are designated biking and hiking trails. It is about 500 m to the old town.

Für einen Zwischenstopp ist der Wohnmobilstellplatz bestens geeignet. Werde ich einplanen, wenn wir zur Oberlink in Niederlande fahren.
