Dpoll 16: Which tag first, tribe, hive or?
First there was Steemit.
At least it was steemit.com for me.
Next I joined WEKU because it was hard for me to load steemit.com.
@Partiko turned out to be a great help and still is. I use it to write and edit. If I publish with another dapp I copy-paste it from @partiko.
At a certain moment all kind of tribes were born.
There are more tribes as one know and it is hard to join them all.
I noticed as time passed by I mainly use: palnet, neoxian(-city), creativecoin, marlians and rhb.
By now I have doubts about Marlians (steempeak does not recognize it as a tribe I wonder why) and palnet.
More tags can be used (if you use steemit 8, steempeak 10) but still only the first seem to count.
All those tribes, all those tags and... all those tokens cost a lot of time and energy.
I wonder if it benefits at all to post on a tribe. Most tokens are even worth less as Steem is (way less) and there is not even a fun part of it.
Tokens I use is BEER (fun and reward if you stake them), Trendotoken/trdo (rewarding someone) and Commentcoin (rewarding someone).
SHOP might be fun if you understand/know how it works.
I haven't made my mind up about the Tipu rewarding system yet. (After I tried to figure out how it works I gave up on it.)
The new kid on steem are the hives.
A community pays 3 Steem to get a number. It is not clear to me yet:
- how to post into a certain hive directly,
- if you need to be a member first and
- if it is a must to use the hive-xxx as a first tag (you cannot do so if you use @actifit or @appics or dpoll.xyz).
What is the benefit of being a number? How to remember all these hives and can a newbie recognize what it stands for?
If you ask me Steem is not getting easier.
Do you think tribes benefit you or are they just a way to be noticed?
What about all these tokens? Do you have benefit from them or is it the fun aspect that counts?
Will you join the hives and only use hive-numbers as a tag or just leave it the way it is?

tribes gave rise to an invasion of censors, but tokens are better than a melting steems. Waiting for conditions to launch a jamb of thematic communities

I have no knowledge about the hive. SE tokens I benefited it all when I sold it and power up.Mostly I staked.. I got problem with beer,before I could not tip it when it is staked. Later on, I could not tip because I staked it. Now I did unstake the beer, then I can't top again.

I believe something has changed if it comes to !BEER but I did not came to figure out what yet.
You should stake beer to give beer and if I understand it right you earn with your staked beer too. I need to check that if my connection is better.

the communities use the hive naming so that multiple communities on similar topics can exist. They are currently in beta.. so not in finished form. Hopefully once they are fully released the current hive naming will resolve to the community name.
If you are going to post to a community, you're best to post into the community itself.
@shadowspub Dies that make sense? Someone starts a community/hive, pays for it and others take the free list and do nearly the same? It means it makes it difficult again for a community to give upvotes to its members 🤔

what free list? Every community will cost 3 Steem. If multiple people start a community around the same topic, like anything else in life, each will need to distinguish itself to draw an audience. It will not be difficult to give upvotes at all. You look at the posts to the community and upvote them. I check mine every day and am quite enjoying being able to sort who is posting based on community rules and who isn't.

Example one the link "freewrite". Everyone can use it not only those who join @ mariannewest with her daily prompt. She started a community, paid. Now the other freewriters come (those who use the tag too but not join her) and start using the tag too.
Why should @ mariannewest give them an upvote?
Example two: the community CVC. Why should they upvote those who think ccc stands for the tribe creativecoin?
This is what I mean by one person pays for the community, the rest uses the tag and are there for free... The community/hive will be messy again and again there is no profit of it.
in your example the posts that go into the freewrite community which are not using the freewrite prompts can be muted so they don't appear. When people post using the freewrite tag.. it can be anything and there is nothing can be done.
So the communities will create more curated listings than the tags are able to do. I don't see the downside of that.

if they post in a community where it doesn't belong the admin / moderator can mute the post so it doesn't show in the community

No matter what I do, what I try, what I post, what I write about, almost no one cares about my Steem blog posts.

@xplosive How can that be? I am not saying I receive comments on each post and if it is from the few people I know.
Have you joined contests?/see @team-ccc or perhaps join the freewriters although hardly a comment is given there since the last HFs. At times I wonder too why I bother, care, keep publishing but I guess I do it mainly for me and I spread my name all we the block chain. To be honest www is still a better place but I am seldom able to sign in to the sites I used to be.

Hives are basically like Subreddits. I love the possibilities of seeing so many of them like in Reddit.

Hives/Communities further decentralize the platform and also makes it more diverse. Thousands of small communitiesthat function like forums/groups/subreddits is the best course of action for the future.

These are still in Beta. They are testing the technology out. You will see the value when front ends start utilizing Hivemind. You need to get the SMTs running to get the real value out. Be patient and see where things will go :-)

I sell some of my tribe tokens for steem
Some tags have been registered with specific hives, so when you use that tag as the first tag, it automatically goes to that hive.
Tribes need to register with steempeak to show on it, but marlians have their own ulog site, so they don't want to encourage their tribe on steempeak.

You can use "hive" tags in the first 5 positions and end up in their feed. A lot of them are giving good upvotes if you do it.
I am staking tokens for many tribes and selling the others. Then I transfer that money to STEEM.
