Everything you do
and
everything you don't do
has consequences!

You have choices.

  • Look at the negative.
    Look for the negative.
    You will find negative.
    • Look at the positive.
      Look for the positive.
      You will find positive.
      • It's your choice.
      • A choice that will make or break your next few minutes.
      • A choice that will make or break your morning, afternoon and evening.
      • A choice that will make or break your day.
      • A choice that will make or break your week.
      • A choice that will make or break your month.
      • A choice that will make or break your year.
      • A choice that will make or break your decade.
      • A choice that will make or break your life.

"All successful people are big dreamers.
They imagine what their future could be,
ideal in every respect,
and then they work everyday toward
their distant vision, that goal or purpose."
--- Brian Tracy

Do you have a dream?
Where do you see yourself next week?
...next month?
...next year?
...5 years down the road?
...???

The question you must ask yourself,
If I keep doing what I'm doing, will I be happy where I end up?

  • If you eat what you've been eating
  • If you keep (not) exercising like you've been (not) exercising
  • If you keep drinking, smoking, whatever... like you've been ....whatever...
    • How does your future look?
      • Everything you do
        and everything you don't do
        has consequences.
  • If you work like you've been working
  • If you spend like you've been spending
  • If you save like you've been HODLing
  • If you Steemit like you've been Steemiting
    • How does your future look?
      • Everything you do
        and everything you don't do
        has consequences.

There's one more thing to think about.

  • We all know people who ate the right things,
    exercised,
    didn't smoke or drink
and their health still ended up poor.
    • We all know people who work hard,
      save for a rainy day,
seize opportunities as they come along
and they still end up dead broke.
      • Sometimes life's not fair.
If anyone ever told you life is fair,
        they lied.
  • Sometimes you can do all the right things and still fail.
    • Does that mean you shouldn't even try?
      • Only if you want to be guaranteed to fail.
  • Sometimes people do all the wrong things
    • and their life still ends up smelling like roses.
      • Sometimes people just get lucky.
        True statement.
They were in the right place at the right time and ... lucky them, right?
  • I'm 59 years old.
    • One thing I've noticed about life being fair...
      • Most of the time
        The harder one works
        The "luckier" one becomes!

Let's apply some of this thinking to Steemit...

  • You could end up working your butt off and Steemit flops.
Would that be the end of the world?
    Not really.
    You developed some winning habits
you developed some skills (writing, photography, people skills, getalong skills ... )
that will help you take advantage of the next big opportunity.
    • You could back off and if Steemit "makes it to the moon,"
you will spend the rest of your life saying...
      I coulda
      I shoulda
      I woulda
      ...
      If only I'da ...
      • You could work your butt off here on Steemit
maybe invest some spare change here and there
        definitely invest your time
        and
Steem could take off toda moon.
and you will spend the rest of your life saying
        I knew I could
        I knew I should
        I did it
        I'm glad I did it
I was in the right place at the right time
I sure did get lucky I worked my butt off
        Life is good.

But what about the ______fill in the blank______?

  • or the ______fill in the blank______?
    • Didn't you hear ______fill in the blank______?
      • ______fill in the blank______ is powering down!
    • ______fill in the blank______ is ______fill in the blank______!
  • Why are you focusing on the negative?

New apps are coming out all the time.

Steem, Inc. is showing progress.

Did you know other companies are rewarding Steemians for signing up with their programs?

Folks
These are exciting times
for those of us
who are in the right place at the right time
on Steemit
yesterday
today
tomorrow

What's holding you back?

  • Why?

What's one thing, that if it changed, you would go full bore?

Be the change that you wish to see in the world.

Well, @wizardave, a very good, logical pep talk. FUD can rule us, or we can end up on the FOMO side. If we act on the feelings of the former, we more likely than not will end up in the latter.

I spent 15 years, at least three of those putting in long hours, and then the rest being responsible for or overseeing all of the different facets for putting a newspaper together. I had good people in place who knew how to do their jobs, but if something failed, or someone had an issue, or if a business decision had to be made, it was up to me.

Then, with one change by the Oregon State Legislature, I was out of business within months.

I was not happy about that. I'm still not happy about that. I could have sued and won, and then given a goodly portion of the proceeds to the lawyer while basically taking it away from the taxpayer. I could have lost and still paid my lawyer out of my own pocket and then not had any money to live off of as we ended up needing and doing.

I feel like I made the right choices. That didn't make life easy. It's still not making life easy even now.

So, after going to school and being away from my wife for 13 out of 16 months, I'm still not sure why I went to school, other than I'm using some of the skills I learned there, plus the skills and talents I had in the newspaper business, plus a lifetime of experience and a lifelong desire to write, here on Steemit.

Maybe this is the last stepping stone to my better future. Not with STEEM at $0.87 USD, but there's still the end of the year to wait for and see what happens.

So, I'm trying to hang in there. Trying to get my wife to hang in there, even though she needed surgery for hernias and won't be going back to work until October 1. Fortunately, we're in decent shape financially and with some short term disability and accrued time off, it will be okay. If I get some part time work, it will be even better.

It's just not ideal, or pretty, or all tied up in a nice, happy bow. It's life, and sometimes it's messy.

I wasn't ignoring you @glenalbrethsen, my monitor died. Just now got the new one hooked up...

  • Your story pretty much proves once again,
    Life's not always fair...
  • Hope the wife gets along good. A guy at work recently had that done and he was a sissy (his words) for a few weeks. haha But now he's very glad he had the operation.

Well, that's good to hear that he's doing better. Hate to go through the surgery and the pain after it just to keep feeling miserable. I'm hoping she'll get some of her energy back and she'll be able to sleep better.

No worries on my end ever. I know you've had some limited time to even be on so I'll just keep commenting and you can come in as you can. Glad you got a new monitor.

Yeah, life. Woohoo! In all of it, though, it's really hard to complain. God has a way of providing the miracles if you're willing to look. I think we've been tremendously blessed in all of this. Just not so much by man. :)
