20여 년 전, 이름도 기억나지 않는 호주의 오지에서 별이 빽빽하게 들어찬 환상적인 밤하늘을 본 적이 있습니다. 그 잊을 수 없는 광경을 다시 보고 싶다는 열망으로, 가끔 가족들과 별을 보러 이곳저곳을 다녀보곤 합니다. 그런데 한국의 하늘은 빛 공해 탓인지 영 시원치 않더군요.
그러던 차에 SNS에서 강릉 안반데기에서 별이 아주 잘 보인다는 이야기를 접했습니다. 마침 딸아이도 최근까지 별자리 이야기 책을 열심히 읽던 참이라, "별 보러 가자"고 했더니 두말없이 "콜!" 을 외치더군요.
아침을 먹고 당일치기로 강릉으로 떠났습니다. 그렇게 즐겁게 차로 한참을 달려서 강릉 도착. 조용한 모래해변에서 한가롭게 조개랑 이쁜돌도 주으며 시간을 보냈습니다: 강릉에서 맛있는 점심도 먹고 기념품 가게도 들러서 요즘 열심히 책읽는 어린이를 위한 책갈피도 하나 샀습니다.
배도 부르겠다... 해가 질때쯤 되어 안반데기로 향해봅니다. 강릉에서 다시 차로 4~50분을 달려야했는데, 의외로 사람이 없습니다. 그래서 이길이 맞나 싶을 정도로 한가한 산길을 달려서 도착했습니다.
도착한 안반데기, 현재는 배추도 없고 초록이도 없어 조금은 황량했지만 그래도 멋진 풍경이었습니다. 백두대간의 정기를 흡수하며 날이 어두워지길 기다려봅니다. 해가지고 깜깜해져서- 별이 저녁 8:30이나 지나서야 보이기 시작하더군요 - 별을 보는데, 별이 막 아주아주 많이 보이지는 않았습니다. 그나마 작년 10월에 갔었던 무주 밤하늘에서 별이 더 잘 보인 듯. 무주를 다시 한번 가봐야겠습니다.
어쨋거나 즐거운 당일치기 여행이었습니다. 돌아오는 길 어린이는 지쳐 곯아 떨어지고 자정이 다 되어서야 집에 도착 했드랬죠.
딸아이랑 조금씩 자연으로 트래킹을 가봐도 되겠다는 생각이 드네요.
제가 보기에는 별이 많이 보이네요. 이것 보다 더 많이 보인다면 정말 환상적일 것 같네요.
나쁘진 않았습니다만... 노출을 길게한 사진이라... 실제로 보는거랑 초큼 다릅니다...ㅠ

I've always been fascinated by the night time sky. I think just about every year when I was a kid I asked for a telescope for Christmas. We have some "dark sky parks" near where I live that allow you to get away from a lot of the light pollution and see the stars.
There’s a special kind of sensitivity and wonder that people who love the stars seem to have. I’m honestly jealous you have dark sky parks nearby.
They are really cool. I am hoping to get back to one this summer. Last time we were there it was much too cloudy! I agree, the night time sky can't help but make you dream.

전, 30여년전.. GOP근무할 때 은하수까지 아주 선명하게 보았던 그 시간이 아직도 잊혀지지가 않습니다.

와... 그당시 GOP의 밤하늘은 정말 멋졌을 것 같습니다. 사진은... 노출을 길게 하고 찍은 사진이라, 육안으로 보는거랑은 차이가 있습니다...ㅜㅜ
