Jamás te olvidaré || I Can't Stop Loving You
I am not a great friend of this week's theme, because I think that true love cannot hurt or harm. But it is true that many times we fall into the error of letting ourselves be affected by this feeling. And there are plenty of songs that talk about that pain. In many cases, despite having received a rejection, we insist on keeping that "love" alive and torturing ourselves with it. Undoubtedly, this theme is present in millions of songs and will continue to be.
One of the songs that talks about this "insistence on not forgetting" is this song composed by Don Gibson and that among other interpreters, was a resounding success in the voice of Tom Jones. It has also had a few versions in Spanish, although the most popular was the one performed by the Puerto Rican Chucho Avellanet.
I did not manage to find out the author of the Spanish lyrics, which possibly means that the Spanish version was not authorized and therefore remained the authorship of the English creator.
Beyond the subject matter, this song has always seemed to me a beauty and a worthy representative of Country music from the United States.

No soy muy amigo del tema de esta semana, porque pienso que el amor verdadero no puede doler, ni lastimar. Pero es verdad que muchas veces caemos en el error de dejarnos afectar por este sentimiento. Y canciones que hablen sobre ese dolor, hay de sobra. En muchos casos, a pesar de haber recibido un rechazo, nos empeñamos en mantener vivo ese "amor" y torturarnos con él. Sin duda, ese tema está presente en millones de canciones y lo seguirá estando.
Una de las canciones que habla sobre ese "empeño en no olvidar" es esta canción compuesta por Don Gibson y que entre otros intérpretes, fue un éxitos rotundo en la voz de Tom Jones. También en español ha tenido unas cuantas versiones, aunque la de la máxima popularidad fue la interpretada por el puertorriqueño Chucho Avellanet.
No logré averiguar el autor de la letra en español, lo cual posiblemente signifique que la versión en español no tuvo autorización y por lo tanto quedó como autoría del creador en inglés.
Más allá de la temática, esta canción siempre me ha parecido una belleza y una digna representante de la música Country de los Estados Unidos.

To an extent, I also believe the same about "True Love."
The idea of "love" has been diluted by many people such that people now equate lust and infatuation to "True Love." And when they get disappointed and heartbroken, they begin to put the blame on True Love, instead of their misconceived idea of love.
True Love lasts and is Undying; it can never fade. ❤
