It has been a very good experience being an Actifit mentor. I've made no secret of my love of the app and the whole idea of Actifit, so to have been a mentor and help it's progression has been a real honour. I have got to know some of the people withing the structure of Actifit and I have found them all to be friendly, energetic and helpful people. The support and guidance I have recieved has been first class and has enabled me to pass on my knowledge to my mentees with confidence.

In my opinion apps like Actifit our the future for the Steem blockchain and are the key to reaching that mainstream audience that we desire. We do still have a long way to go though. My experience of on-boarding non steemian, non crypto people to our space has thrown up a multitude of issues that need solving before crypto can even begin to move forward. These are not so much an Actifit problem but more of a crypto wide problem. The bottom line is that the things that we have become very accustomed to like encripted keys, Steem Backed Dollars, markdown language, transfering crypto, exchanges etc are just beyond most people unless they have a passion and determination to join and learn all about it themselves. The casual public just wont do this.

I created a few things to help with this process and also a few ideas to make it easier or more informative. The first thing I did was create a guide for beginners to locate and download the app and also to understand and use the basics. The link is here Beginners Guide. I then launched my #teamgazza initiative where I promoted all of my mentees posts every day and also counted up the total steps for #teamgazza at the end of each week. Link here teamgazza post. I followed and upvoted all mentees posts and resteemed selected posts. I created a whatsapp group with the mentees that I have on my contacts list. This was so they could discuss things between themselves and help to motivate one another. I hope these things will also be useful for future mentors.

I believe that I have had reasonable success. I managed to get 4 out of 5 of my existing steemian mentees over the magic 10 posts. I referred 5 non steemian friends and 3 of them crossed the 10 post threshold. One of the others has unfortunately ended up on crutches and was unable to continue after starting so well. The final mentee posted 4 times but was having battery drain issues with her phone using the app. All in all I am disappointed that I didn't hit the 10 mentee target but I am thankful to all my mentees for giving it a good go. Phenomenal effort on getting people on to the app and all the work you've put in to this report and support mate.

Unfortunately the problems around getting the general public on board are crypto wide and I sense the folks who can nail the simplicity side of it will win out. Hopefully it will be steem 🙂
