I walked a lot today, exploring different trails around the campground. My son and I played eighteen baskets of disc golf too.
Here's a picture of yesterdays sunset:
I had trouble uploading the pictures and had to walk over by the gun battery in order to find a good enough spot to upload.
Here's the entrance to the gun battery with the date it was in service. It was fun to explore inside. Some of the rooms had "No Smoking" signs above their entrance. I would guess that would go without saying during the time the rooms were full of gun powder.
Here's a view of one of the gun placements. There was a really good view out into the ocean from here.
I don't think this fort had any action at any point and this type of technology is way outdated now. It was a fun place to explore and relive some history though. I have a bunch more pictures that I will be posting as time progresses. I kind of have to save some of the photos for when I don't have anything good to show.

I love exploring old forts, lookouts, and armories! I just went to an old Fort on one of the islands in the Caribbean and it is hard for me to imagine as I look over the water (it is always over the water there) and see the vast area that they are to defend.
This is, of course, back in the days of pirates. Real ones. :)
Most of those Forts still have the cannons and guns intact, but, disarmed,, of course. I can hardly wait to see your other shots.
I love the sweet sunset, the soft pink against those dark, masses of clouds. The contrast makes the softness even sweeter! I hope you are in the throes of spring out there!
We should be getting warmer as we get close to the weekend! Have a most wonderful day!
!tip
The cannons and guns in this Fort were all gone. It would have been fun to see them but I would guess that the metal in them was worth a lot.
Spring is really coming along yet there are some rainy cold days still too. I doubt there will be any more freezing temperatures though.
Thank you and have a wonderful day too!
I am sure that you are right and we are enjoying a most incredible day today. Thank you.
The gun battery building is it an artillery building that is used for storing both military ammunitions. Because the building has a military carmoflange . The photos looks nice and of high quality as well
They have a few of those armories/lookouts by UBC. So nice they are not needed these days. Loved the sunset shot and the billowy clouds behind the scene in the last shot. Managed to get myself together enough to post today. I was feeling inspired. Been too long, I think:):):)
It is nice that you are posting! I'm so glad that a lot of these things are not needed these days. I often like exploring all kinds of abandoned buildings. It is fun for me to see how things were done at one time and contrast that with what we do now.
@lightsplasher, Without any doubt your blog have some interesting pictures to watch and specially the water view with beautiful and breathtaking mixed colours of nature.

Thank you, I enjoy taking pictures, I'm glad you find it interesting. The ocean around here has been fun for me to visit. I like seeing the different colors and hearing the waves.
Welcome and specially hearing the waves aspect is deep subject.
I find it always interesting to see how technology that had worked well for ages can be so readibly discarded.
Me too. So much technology has quickly changed. I like exploring the old buildings and factories. Maybe there will be a bunch of abandoned bank buildings with vaults to explore someday when everything changes to crypto, lol.
The first photo is amazing with the soft colors, I am feeling the bliss. Can’t wait to see more of the armory, can we expect pictures of the inside?
I have a few of the inside I might post at some point. There wasn't much to see though and it was very dark.
a very beautiful place, but maybe with a dark history,
relics from military history with a bunker or fortress system will always be an attraction to visit.
hopefully tomorrow there will be no more war.
Thanks @lightsplasher for sharing.
I really hope there will be no more war. It seems very possible.
I love exploring old gun placements and forts and you got some awesoem shots at this one
Thank you, they are a lot of fun to look around. There was a very good view from this area for miles out into the ocean.
That’s great
Have a great day
