On the shores of Pomorie Lake today is located the only salt museum in Southeast Europe. Ancient technology for producing salt by solar evaporation of seawater is presented there.
This is the place that with @outlinez and other friends we chose to visit this Saturday riding our bikes from Burgas.
The extraction of salt in the region of Pomorie is a livelihood that has fed local people for centuries. According to historical sources, salt pans in the Pomorie area existed even before the founding of the city.
In ancient times, salt was an extremely valuable commodity - expensive and rare - and was therefore called "white gold".

In salt water pools there is a very specific flora and fauna. All this can be observed from specially built platforms.
The healing mud
The mud deposits have been used for centuries for healing procedures.
Mud and lye are extremely rich in minerals and trace elements and are used for medical and cosmetic purposes, which makes the town of Pomorie one of the main balneological centers in the country.
Visitor Center for Conservation of Pomorie Lake.
The terrace of the center is a convenient position for taking pictures of cormorants, Black-winged stilt, Avocet, small and large herons and other species. In addition, there are regular thematic discussions, cognitive tours in the area, video lectures, seminars, nature conservation campaigns and more.
Over Pomorie Lake passes the second largest bird migration route in Europe - Via Pontica. This is a reason for the wide variety of birds - a total of 269 species.
