I'll admit I did not follow all of that. I have been a professional developer for nearly 40 years and I enjoy it, but I have not found time to get much into the AI stuff. For now I can still get paid for what I do, but the next generation will have to adapt.
It all seems to have taken great leaps in the last few years and new things are possible. I see people creating apps in hours rather than weeks.
I have no idea which companies will succeed, but it seems that they can use these tools to develop the next generation and maybe people will not be able to keep up in understanding how they work. Whether this makes the machines conscious is a question for philosophers, but there will be moral and legal consequences.
We live in a strange new world.
