Rape is the worst form of human violation after murder
Sexual intercourse with same or opposite sex against the other person's consent or willingness is term rape. Rape can be very violent due to resistance from the victim or it could be non violent as a result of threat to life or deprivation of certain rights of the victim.
Increasing rate of rape among opposite sex is reported to be prevalent in the last 10 years compared to last decade.
Rape is an ancient act that dates way back to the era of man's creation. As a matter of fact, the Bible clearly states the punishment for rape due to the rampant cases and measures for curbing it. One annoying thing about rape is that Male are in most cases the oppressors while the females are at the receiving end. There are of course cases where we have reverse cases but it is not as prevalent as the former.
CONSEQUENCES OF RAPE
Forceful sex can be painful, not really because of the physical pain associated with penetrating unprepared vagina, but emotional pain attached to a stranger taking advantage of one's private core sexual act. Several victims of rape most of which are females usually suffer in silence and may refused to speak out due to stigmatization, shame and threat to their life. This also leads to suicide, diseases and infections, induced introverted actions, distrust and even wanton attitudes.
Some people have nasty experience of rape as far back as when they are less than 10 years old while some are even more. The consequence of this is future emotional wreck on the victim, this is not good.
REASONS WHY PEOPLE RAPE OTHERS
There are several reasons why people engage in violent sex against the opposite sex. There are emotional reasons where the male cannot control his sexual urges or is sexually aroused by female body parts and he is incapable of control over his own urge. In such cases the oppressor usually more in advantage in terms of strength overpowers the opposite sex and rapes her. Emotional reasons are more than lack of control of sexual urge. I do not want to go into the scientific basis for some of the reasons in today's post.
religious beliefs and myth cause has really done more damage to the victim than emotional reasons because it emphasizes on benefits of sexual intercourse with a virgin which of course due to high rate of global sexuality has been trickled down to the ages of 8 and below. In most cases these crazy oppressors go for toddlers and infants. I must say at this juncture, this is not going to paint as good picture hence due to the effects on parent I won't elaborate on it more than this.
Self induced reasons is caused by the victims. It has been noted with alarming rate at which indecent exposure of females body parts in dressing has taken over the environment. Such is a factor leading to rape. Indecent dressing can attract attention including a rapist who can trail the victim to a lonely area and pounce on her. This is not supposed to be an excuse for the rapist because everyone has the right to how he or she dresses but for safety reasons it is advised to watch your back.
Rape between couple is a topic for another day but it is also a rape.
WHAT TO DO WHEN RAPED
- Call for help, scream if you can, bite if you can, self defense can help. If you are unsure of your resistance abilities then don't get violent because it could be dangerous if the oppressor is more violent than you.
- Report to the police 👮. Don't ever be ashamed of yourself, quickly report so that the rapist may be apprehended as fast as possible.
- Seek medical attention, this is important. You can protect yourself from diseases and infections by prompt seeking of medical help
- You can approach human right activist who can help you.
- Broadcast the activities of the oppressors and let them be smoked out
