AIR-CLINIC WRITING CONTEST - And He died of Negligence

in #air-clinic6 years ago (edited)

Mr. Jide was a blessed man, he was 68 years of age yet he has never slept a day in the hospital until now. He was a very active man and was working for a private company company in a part of Lagos before he was retired 2 years ago. He lost his wife like eternity ago but decided not to get married again after all he was blessed with a set of twins - a boy and a girl. They are both far away in the university doing very well in their academics.

Along with retirement came reality, he has not planned for these days. He knew something was not right a while back but he was successfully covering it up by been very dedicated to work.
One thing about problems is they rarely go away. They might give you some break and hide in the corner waiting for a perfect time to manifest.

Mr. Jide became really tired after retirement, he would spend most of his days in bed only to go out in the evening to drink some his own poison, sorry beer despite been diagnosed of diabetes. Stagnation is death. The only part of his day he looked forward to was the night of drinking.

His diabetes grew worse and he was finding it difficult to urinate. A catheter was therefore fixed to his urinary tracts. He was supposed to visit the hospital bimonthly for maintenance to prevent infections of bacteria and others. He refused to visit the hospital for 2 months and watched as his bladder got infected. One day, he was found unconscious in his room passing out blood from his urinary tract. He was rushed to the Hospital in an emergency and his twins were called from school. Getting to the hospital, the twins met him lifeless. He had died of negligence.
