Testing out my recently purchased Ironlak Strikers using very old sheets of tracing paper over an inkjet printed photograph of this dead musician.
I didn't focus on detail or accuracy when tracing because I wanted to practice using the double ended striker markers for capturing shape, shading and essential lines more than picture perfect details.
Playing around with monocrhome and GIMP after effects
Far too easy to overwork digital images and spend far too much with the color level adjustments. Lost too much color tone and gradients here but I still like the end result. The day-glo yellow and red are colors that are meant to stimulate your appetite - hence why a lot of fast food joints use color schemes which are predominantly red and yellow.
The original portrait photograph is of David McComb, front man of The Triffids.
