When I was a child I saw one of the first cartoon series that came to my country, before The Flintstones had arrived and this new animation was similar but different, one located in the distant past, the Triassic apparently because there were dinosaurs, although later I I learned that those cute little animals and people did not share the same time. The latter is anecdotal since the idea was to entertain.
On the other hand, the Jetsons (in my country they were known as Los Supersónicos), were a family that lived in the future that was also surprising, of course, many situations were ridiculous and incredible like those of the Flintstones who was also given a name in Spanish and they were for everyone as Los Picapiedra.
One of the things that most caught my attention back then were flying vehicles, which also functioned as automobiles. Many years later, although this time in a movie with real actors, we saw again a car that not only flew but could transport its occupants into the past or the future, just by changing the date of the onboard computer.
But the years have passed quickly and technological advances have caused many of those situations to become reality, yesterday I read the news of the successful tests of a flying car, similar to that of the Jetsons, and of course I remembered the series and my times of child when I amused myself assuming that all this was the product of the imagination of its successful authors (Joseph Barbera and William Hanna).
Right now we have robots that clean, cars that fly, and flat-screen televisions that are also used to talk and see other people.
What those talented authors defined in that far-off opportunity in the 1960s is now true in many cases. How long will it take for us to have a service station floating in the air?
Cuando era un niño veía una de las primeras series de dibujos animados que llegaron a mi país, antes habían arribado Los Flintstones y esta nueva animación era parecida pero diferente, una ubicada en el pasado lejano, el triásico aparentemente porque había dinosaurios, aunque luego me enteré que esos simpáticos animalitos y las personas no compartieron el mismo tiempo. Esto último es anecdótico ya que la idea era entretener.
En cambio, los Jetsons (en mi país se conocieron como Los Supersónicos), eran una familia que vivía en un futuro también sorprendente, por supuesto que muchas situaciones eran ridículas e increíbles como las de los Flintstones a quienes también les pusieron un nombre en español y quedaron para todos como Los Picapiedra.
Una de las cosas que más llamaban mi atención en aquel entonces eran los vehículos voladores, que también funcionaban como automóviles. Muchos años después, aunque esta vez en una película con actores reales, volvimos a ver un auto que no solo volaba, sino que podía transportar a sus ocupantes hacia el pasado o el futuro, solo con cambiar la fecha de la computadora de abordo.
Pero los años han transcurrido rápidamente y los avances tecnológicos han provocado que muchas de esas situaciones se hayan vuelto realidad, ayer leí la noticia de las pruebas exitosas de un automóvil volador, similar al de los Jetsons y por supuesto recordé la serie y mis épocas de niño cuando me divertía suponiendo que todo eso era producto de la imaginación de sus exitosos autores (Joseph Barbera y William Hanna).
En estos momentos tenemos robots que limpian, autos que vuelan y televisores de pantalla plana que se utilizan también para hablar y ver a otras personas.
Lo que esos talentosos autores definieron en aquella oportunidad tan lejana de los años 1960 hoy son realidad en muchos casos, ¿Cuánto faltará para que tengamos una estación de servicios flotando en el aire?
