Video: Are you a "Big Dog" or a "Lottery Ticket Loser"?

in #alive3 months ago (edited)

A couple of months ago I responded to an email from one of my online business aquaintances, Mark Hodgetts, who blogs as @markhodge on Hive, and purchased Secrets of the Big Dogs via his affiliate link.

In the end, I decided not to take the Big Dogs project any further, but I still receive emails from Mark, and from Stan of Big Dogs.

A couple of days ago I was scrolling through the emails on my phone while communting to one of my teaching gigs and decided to check out Stan's latest newsletter, all about the odds of winning the lottery and the "lottery mentality" among all too many Internet marketing wannabies in the "make money online" niche. The article inspired me to make this video:

Hey Stan! I Don't Want To Get My Hands Dirty

The Lottery Mindset Among Internet Marketers

You can read Stan's article here: https://bigdogsecrets.com/07july-article01.htm

Stan's message revolves around the lottery mindset prevalent among many aspiring marketers. This mindset involves waiting for a miraculous opportunity to strike, akin to buying a lottery ticket and hoping to win big without any effort. Unfortunately, this approach leads nowhere.

Stan illustrates this with the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot: 122 million to one. In comparison, your chances of becoming an astronaut (13 million to one), getting a royal flush in poker (64,974 to one), or even dating a supermodel (88,000 to one) are significantly higher.

The takeaway? The lottery ticket dream is a far cry from the reality of building a successful online business.

Success in internet marketing demands effort and dedication. It's not about purchasing the latest program and passively waiting for results. Instead, it requires getting your hands dirty, offering real value to your audience, and consistently working towards your goals.

What do I get from this?

I encountered a vivid example of this mindset recently. One of my downline members in SFI, who had been passively paying his subscription without taking any proactive steps, reached out in frustration. Here's what he said:

Here's my reply:

I understand his frustration with the program, but even so, it seems to me that he felt entitled to results simply because he had a monthly subscription for one of their products, much like a lottery ticket holder expecting to win the jackpot because he keeps buying tickets.

There is no magic pill

Stan’s message is clear: there is no magic pill in internet marketing. Stop waiting for a miracle and start taking action. Build your list, engage with your audience, and provide quality products and services.

Only then can you create a viable online business.

So, although I do not promote Big Dogs Secrets, I do think it offers great value, and the newsletter has some useful and entertaining insights as well.

A shoutout to @markhodge for introducing me to Big Dog Secrets. Mark is a marketer who takes his business seriously and is not afraid to get his hands dirty, so if you would like to find out more about Big Dog Secrets, check out his Leadsleap landing page here:

Alot of people are looking for shortcuts to success not realising there really isn't one. Sometimes people get lucky but this is rare and unlikely for most.

Thank you @benthomaswwd - the real shortcut to online business success is to build a funnel, promote the landing page, and cultivate a relationship with your subscribers by providing value. Seems like too much work for 97<% so they fiddle around on non-essential stuff and chase time-wasting lottery-ticket style "shortcuts" to... failure!
