This children's book for very young children was published in 1978. The author and artist was Viktor Pivovarov. Now 89 years old, he is a renowned artist.
I remembered this book when I was 2 or 3 years old. When I opened it 10 or 20 years later, pleasant memories came back to me.

In 1978, the circulation of this book was 600,000 copies.
For example, the monthly circulation of the children's magazine "Veselye Kartinki" (Funny Pictures) was 10 million copies (the country's population was 280 million).
By the way, these letters for the magazine cover were also drawn by Viktor Pivovarov.

I remember when I was 4-7 years old, I would constantly look into my mailbox, hoping to see this children's magazine there.
Viktor Pivovarov's paintings are now worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. For example, this painting is in the Tretyakov Gallery and reminds me of a drawing from a children's book, only I like the drawings in the children's book better :)

And I only remember Barmaley and A. Barto’s poems... but I remember Barmaley better
A children's book from 1978 that you've remembered since you were 2 or 3 — that's special. Some books just stick with you for life.
What was the book about? I'd love to know more about the story or the illustrations that made it so memorable.
Viktor Pivovarov sounds like a remarkable artist. At 89, his work is still being remembered and shared. That's a beautiful thing.
The book is called "Big and Small." This book introduces children to big and small things.
Thanks for the new name (for me). These illustrations are very similar to the illustrations in the book Carlson Who Lives on the Roof. My books started with The Wizard of Oz, and the Three Little Pigs. !ALIVE
I had a fairy tale, "The Three Little Pigs," with wonderful illustrations by Bulatov and Vasiliev. I remember asking my mother at age four, "Will the wolf destroy our three-story brick house?" :)

Nice story book, i so much love children books as well, i love the picture and the way its used to narrate/communicate the message across.
But one of my favorites is the Wizard of Oz.. lol 🤣
I like this fairy tale, although it is, in fact, not really a fairy tale, but rather a science fiction from Spielberg.
That's good to hear ☺️☺️. I love tales as well because of the fairy
