No need to put hashtag #newsteem. Before publishing our post we can see below the settings of payouts, we can adjust this to Decline Payout like the picture below.
And will burn them from now on, better that way. Will the post still appear on the first page after using the votes and having beneficiary as @null ?
Yes, no one will likely downvote for burning the steem. 😊

No worries buddy. Take a look at this post which is on trending page. He set it on decline payout, although he heaviliy use the bidbots, no one care to downvote it for burning the steem. See ya around :D
