What is a masternode ?
Masternodes are computers that run a wallet and make decisions, such as locking transactions with InstantSend, coordinate mixing of coins, and voting on budget funding.
Masternodes are required to have a number of coins, a dedicated IP address, and be able to run 24 hours a day without a connection loss.
Masternodes get paid a percentage of the block reward on every block, which is distributed to masternodes one at a time.
Masternode example
Alqo is one of my favorite masternodes, and i am running one .
To run an alqo masternode 10.000 coins are required.
it's ROI is 86% it means the node will generate 10.000 coins in 422 days, but if the price goes up your ROI with dollar will be shorter than that.
at the time i'm writing this ALQO income is 219$ per month for a 3.000$ investment.

How to choose my masternode
- The volume on the exchange : if you want to sell/buy coins a good volume should be present.
- ROI : the return on investment should be great.
- A good project and team behind the masternode.

how to run a masternode
Every masternode team will deliver a complete guide to install the masternode.
- You must hold a minimum of coins in a private wallet (i.e. outside of an exchange).
- You must have a dedicated computer or cloud instance running on Ubuntu 16.04 and above that also supports Docker. Minimum specifications are specified by masternode.
- A minimum knowledge of linux or windows.
