Thanks for giving me your thoughts.
Most obviously, nothing prevents bad actors from creating multiple accounts.
This was taken into account. As far as I can tell the only benefit to doing this would be to split up your HP to vote for more than 50 accounts. Don't forget that it is stake based which means that if you did that, the HP would have to be parked in those Alt accounts. If the HP was moved, the votes essentially get erased. So there is a trade off to doing that.
Free starter HP would drain faster than it does now, talking the economy.
This seems like a slight misunderstanding. There wouldn't be free HP given, just a higher starting point for rep. In other words, rep would start at 1 and not zero, but there would be no actual HP in a new account unless it was put there through means already available in Hive. Starting at 1 also doesn't translate into rep voting power as that would still be based on their stake, which would be zero (unless they change that by powering up on their own.) I would be against any kind of delegation program that isn't in place for other reasons. If people want to have a higher effect on reputation voting, powering up is the path to do that.
like high reputation, a low KE ratio doesn't inherently signal virtue.
I do like KE as a metric but yes it has its flaws. I think this system would solve the problems of both KE and the current system. It makes it more human, which I believe is a good thing.
Perhaps it should be removed entirely, or its effect on votes and how it influences reputation should be changed.
Yeah, I kind of agree but it was created because people saw a need for it. The issue is that the system they created actually rewards and encourages bad behavior. It also puts high "rep" accounts above judgement. It also makes it more or less stagnant for those accounts no matter what their actual real world actual reputation is.
Maybe a weighted system is needed instead,
Someone did think of the same thing. A Hive flower where each metric was a petal. I'm not opposed to that idea but I do think it would be cumbersome. I think the human curated reputation would be the most organic though. I also think it would be the one least likely to be gamed due to the high cost and low reward of doing so.
Thanks again for your thoughts. This is exactly the type of conversation I was hoping for.
I also wanted to point out that HP received through delegation wouldn't count for rep voting. It would be just like the witness voting is now. Following that thread, how does your first critique of creating multiple accounts affect current witness voting and is it a problem. In terms of actual chain mechanics, witness voting is a much more critical operation.
