During the civil war, the head of a bar committee came to the US President, Lincoln, and asked him to remove General Grant from office on the grounds that grant often drank alcohol. "What is grant drinking ?" Lincoln inquired seriously. "Whiskey ." The person in charge answered excitedly. "Please listen, in my name, send a bucket of whiskey to all the generals, so that we can win the war soon ." Lincoln said.

At one point, Lincoln was making an endless speech. Suddenly, his assistant handed him a note with only two words "fool" on it ". Lincoln glanced at it and knew it was a mess. Instead of getting angry, he smiled and said to the audience: "Ladies and Gentlemen, I used to receive many notes that forgot to sign my name. But this time I received a note with a 'sign' and no other content ."
