Hi Amanda. It's probably a good idea to post an "introduceyourself" post with a picture of you holding a sign saying Steemit, so people know it's you, and when you post an article that's already been published on the web, link to it so it's clear to everyone that you're being open about it.
Welcome to Steemit!
Kurt
@dragonanarchist Actually what @churdtzu is describing is a dangerous practice for steemit in general and I really wish we as a group could stop recommending it.
Your identity is yours. If you're claiming credibility by coming to us from another source, it makes far more sense for you to just post a "Hello steemians" message on your blog or whatever.
The picture based verification is a dumb idea being repeated over and over again by otherwise smart people. They fail to comprehend that among other things, anyone can hop on fiver and pay some cute girl $5 to take a couple photos of themselves holding up such a sign, even a video. Also let's not forget photoshopping such things, as well as hiring a niece or a neighbor girl.
Weird thing is that this is only asked for by the community from females and the only females that comply are ones that try to trade on their looks instead of their brain. In otherwords, for the most part only catfish bother with this.
Welcome aboard, I completely disagree with you on so many levels, but you have a great style and an awesome way of putting things. That's what makes this place so much fun! I expect to see a lot more awesome content from you in the future. :)
Thank you for explaining how the Steemit paper holding picture is not so cool as it seems!
Was useful to me too (I didn't and I will not do it in the future)

This is a problem long solved by cryptographic signing. I attempted it on my first post here but didn't account for Steemit expanding youtube links... ;)
